[QUOTE=EpicSchwinn;

Today it's snowing hard. I was hoping I still had at least a week of biking weather left D:[/QUOTE]

There you go...

Dude, I have tree trunk legs from years of doing hundreds of squats into lowboy coolers every day (I'm a cook) and I wouldn't run 48/15 outside of a track. 46/16 is fine for me.

SSbalt 11-12-11 11:29 PM

Haha, yeah I figured my gearing was a little ridiculous. I'm basically "standing up pedaling" on anything but the slightest hills that I cant carry momentum into. It was quite a shock, I'm thinking to myself "I know I'm way out of shape, but DAMN!"

I'll order up a 17t cog in the next week or two. Assuming I'll have to get a new chain?

Very unlikely, unless your chain is badly worn or your wheel is already slammed all the way forward in the dropouts. Adding two teeth to the cog will only move your wheel forward in the dropouts about 1/4". At worst, you can add a link to the chain.

Did MAJOR housecleaning today. Got the cars cleaned as well. Put a new Thomson stem on my IRO, took it for a spin around the block and decided enough was enough with my Brooks B17. I can't ride the thing for longer than 20 minutes before my ass starts chafing, so I put it up on craigslist. Hopefully it sells quick, I'd like to ride this bike again but it's just too damned uncomfortable.

I'm just gonna throw it into my sig.

Doomride 11-13-11 02:31 AM

Went to the bike swap and got all sorts of goodies :)

calbob76 11-13-11 03:22 PM

today I have some kind of stomach flu and feel like dying

BigglyPuff 11-13-11 04:03 PM

What are the odds, I'm running 48/15 on my alu-trackie and 46/16 on my steel bike. The 48/15 is noticeably harder (obviously), especially getting started, but it's fine except for the steepest hills. I never considered changing the rear cog until I needed to, I would rather make my lazy a$$ adjust to the bike then buy another cog. Not for anyone else, but when I'm out of breath, winded and my legs are burning, I just tell myself "htfu".

Loving the 46/16 ratio though. It's definitely my main bike at this point. Today I went on a really short ride with my wife so she could gather some cuttings from her school for propagation. Finished a ridiculous project for work which my boss dumped off on me, hopefully I get paid. Probably gonna go for another ride and then watch the NE/NY game (with snacks and beer of course).

Today I

Will be taking these on their maiden voyage:

I'm hungover and haven't ridden in 2 weeks but don't care.

edit: quick poll - keep the decals or take them off? Maybe keep the Reynolds side and take off the DV3K side?

Today I sold my Nikon D300, and bought a Nikon D90. Going to use the extra money to buy some tiresss.

redpear 11-13-11 06:52 PM

+1 to taking the decals off. Both sides.

Jandro 11-13-11 07:20 PM

Another installment.

Today I...

...am once again reminded why I love this city so much. Taken from my roof:

"Take them off" is trending in polls. I am beginning to agree.

Today I had an awesome dinner cooked by Misskaz, with her husband, my wife, and a friend. Beef and onions braised in beer, mushroom risotto, some salad, and for dessert we had some 2010 Dark Lord. Good times. Now to watch Walking Dead, wash dishes, and ride to karaoke. It has been an awesome day.

calv 11-13-11 09:08 PM

Damn! I wish I was there!

EpicSchwinn 11-13-11 09:11 PM

Sounds like fun jimmy!

Next time I'm in Chicago, I know who I'm hanging out with.

Dannihilator 11-13-11 09:15 PM
