I don't care and I already did. Rim≠wheelset; there are many more variables to consider between the two.

91MF 08-30-11 09:01 PM

i just checked back and realized i was saying wheel the whole time when i def just meant the rim. agreed, the hubs are not equal. i concede defeat.

this time.

Today I bought a frame... some piece of shiz cranks were on it... they have some sort of funny symbol on the back side. Not sure if I should just toss them, or try and trade them for something else...

/sarcasm, but seriously...if someone wants to trade for some om-nom-nom's pm me

High BB + short cranks = pedal through any corner

Low BB + 170s = skipping and sketchy, yet smaller turning radius/not falling.

CX! CX! CX! I am going to try to learn the CX dismount/remount this weekend and see where it goes from there. I already have the right kind of bike; I just need to HTFU and do it.

Today there was a crazy headwind along the lake on my ride in this morning. I realize that as a cyclist I have it easy here in Chicago, what with the lack of any sort of hills. But I'd take a hill over 35+ minutes of relentless headwind any day. At least a hill has the other side... often by the time I get out of work 9 hours later and go home, what should be a tailwind has died down or shifted direction.

Today I wished my fixed gear had gears, or suddenly transformed into a cross bike

Today I sorta bit it on my ride. Not really any harm to me, and not tooooo much to the bike. Just feel sorta lucky right now.

In San Francisco you get both strong winds and of course the hills. The 'other side' is not exactly fun either though. Especially brakeless.

Also, the CX mount and dismount is pretty smooth. It's a really neat thing for urban riders to know as well. It definitely feels better to 'come in hot' and take off with a little boost.

Today I overhauled my paddywagon commuter's drivetrain; well deserved after the 12 consecutive fixed metric centuries. Repacked the DA 7600 hubs. Also swapped back over a modest 46T zen messenger chainring from the 49T zen I had on it earlier. My omniums had a considerable layer of grime on the back of them.

Jelly..

I ran into a campaign rally of a leading presidential candidate while riding back into town today. I couldn't help myself. I had to stop.

Been in a dark place ever since.

Funny, I normally can say it, and I tried, but it just didn't happen.

Maybe if you posted some pics (hint hint)

Pending... it is far too soon to be thinking about winter but up here it could snow at any time.

Retired the old winter bike (the U.A.V.) from that kind of abuse as it really just too nice a ride.

Today I started packing for going back to college. While I was packing up all my old tony hawk games I wondered something. Why has nobody made a fixed gear video game? They had skating, snowboarding, downhill mtb, and even razor scooter games for crying out loud. I want combo points for mad skidz and reputation multiplier for riding brakeless!!

hamfoh 08-31-11 11:13 PM

today a HED3 finally popped up for sale in Houston (tubular has popped up before, first clincher I've seen)

here's what I got back though :(

Yes. It's slightly untrue and has a crack tho. It's not monocoque tho so the outside layer of the carbon isn't holding the actual structure. 125 bucks for a flashy wheel
