Today I am hungover and working on 2 hours sleep. But, I'm powering through... I need to stop hanging out with people that don't have 9-5 office jobs (ahem, jimmytango...) because they are a bad influence on me.

When I get home I'm going to take a picture of all the bike parts I just bought to post in the "What did you just buy for your bike?" thread. Then, if I don't pass out on the couch first, I'm going to install them.

A few weeks ago i got a front tire blow out on the one day i didnt bring anything :-[

Today i learned how crapped out some of my paint brushes are. Money down the drain and more money to replace. The joys of gaining experience and finding a method that works. I also learned my practical bike weighs 40lbs with a light load. God, i hope the wheels i built can handle the weight

I just got some of the worst news I could have gotten about a friend. Short of him dying I don't think I could hear anything worse. And things were going so well too...

And Kaz, you may not get much sleep when we hang out, but it's always a great time, and it's always worth it.

My best friend of almost 10 years now was diagnosed with colon cancer in August and he's been fighting since. I obviously don't know what's going on, but just give them your love and support and try to keep a positive attitude. Things can always get better.

That blows man. My dude is a heroin junky who just got out of rehab a week ago. He got stabbed early this morning and the doctors gave him Dilaudid for the pain because the medical records hadn't been updated with the opiate rehab thing yet. In case you aren't familiar, Dilaudid is a strong opiate. In other words, the exact wrong ****ing thing to give someone who just got out of heroin detox. Pretty much caused an instant relapse. He's now in the hospital screaming for more, and he's alone because his wife walked out of the hospital, packed her ****, and went to her parent's house. Facebook has her name changed back to the maiden, and she told me that she's going to file for divorce tomorrow because "**** junkies, that's why."

Dude has been a great friend for close to ten years, we lived together briefly, were in multiple bands together, and he was a groomsman at my wedding. The irony of the whole situation is that when I was having my issues with drugs a few years back, he was one of the people that staged my intervention.

Seems you and I had a very similar day. Hit a hole on 52nd and 2nd and popped both of my tubes. No tubes/tools so I decided a Gatorade and a coffee were in order. Carried my bike after the gym 15 blocks to home and ripped it apart.

Spare tubes, a single speed 17T, and a frame pump will be on order tomorrow morning.

That's awful; surely a frustrating situation to deal with. I'm really sorry to hear. I've dealt with friends with drug issues(heroin as well) and it's not an easy drug for anyone to shake.

I think he'll be ok. At 25, he's pretty resilient. Had his whole colon removed and has a colonostomy bag now. Started chemo to fight the cancer that spread to his lymph nodes, but he's doing really well. Isn't going to lose his hair, hasn't lost much weight other than having his colon removed, and just gets nauseous when he get off the chemo treatments for a day or two. He's expected to be fine, but it's still a scary thing to deal with. I honestly thought he was joking when he first texted me about it.

It sucks. Just bad circumstances, flat tires/tubes will screw up your whole day. I'm fortunately that my tires are pretty stiff so I didn't have any problem walking my flat-tubed bike without hurting my rim, but it still was a crap start to the day.

Ouch dude! What's the story? I hope you have a fast recovery!

Today I looked at the forecast and realized I'll probably have to hang up the fixie for the season soon. Maybe an 8 degree ride on Saturday if the snow is melted??

Science man... I was cleaning an erlenmeyer flask and it broke, which means I must be extremely strong or it had a hairline crack in it. At least I can still ride my bikes! haha

got in a massive fight w/ the wife over nonsense. strangely, totally my fault.

partially made up via email at work.

started shopping for taint-friendly saddles for the Fuji League. the stock saddle is as cushy as a cruiser and causes "numb-nutz" after about 1/2hr.

Thinking about changing my gearing.

Anyone interested in trading Silver Zen rings? I have a silver zen 48t and am looking for a silver Zen 49t (mine has very few miles on it.
