Any time I wear a helmet, I always hit my head. Whenever I don't, my head never touches anything

Good that it doesn't seem to be something too serious

Funny how that works. Same sort of thing happened to me (no helmet, didnt hit head)

Get better and keep that helmet on!

Today I had to pick up my nashbar package at the post office since my lazy ass roommate couldn't get off the couch and answer the door yesterday. They told me to come after noon to get my package, they closed at noon, ugh.

Today I:

Removed 3 headsets, installed 2, and had the LBS swap out a crown race for a "baseplate" . . . (if you catch my drift)... Photos if I can get them after my appointment tonight.

BTW, All-thread + Rubber Washers + washers + nuts + wing-nuts makes for a pretty good headset press! Thanks Bike Forum for suggesting it!

Yeah, I'm glad i got lucky and didn't have anything too serious happen.

Today I woke up with a major headache though . Also, today I'm getting my car all loaded up to move back to Spokane tomorrow. Gotta fix the flat on my 29er before I go. That thing has had 2 flats since I got it last month and I haven't really ridden it that much. I might put some tire liner strips in there.

When I rode bmx as a kid I didn't wear a helmet. Then I got cut off at a light coming home from some dirt jumping and put a 3 inch deep dent into a car door with my skull. I now wear a helmet whenever im on my bike.

You say that axiomatically.
But that's just bad luck. Bad because you've never learned right.

Tonight I had my Knog Boomer lights stolen and my rear wheel kicked in outside of a bar in Salem, MA by some stupid girl who claimed to be a "Brooklyn bike messenger" because I wouldn't give her the time of day. Thanks, you ****ing ****bag *******. You're incredibly lucky I didn't see you do it because I would have knocked your ****ing head off.

It's not even the lights that bother me, it's the fact that I have to rebuild an H+son/Phil Wood wheel because some drunk idiot claiming to be something she's not just to be "down" put her foot through it. I seriously wanted to kill everyone I saw during the entire walk home.

I know the type. I know a guy who really did that in Baltimore. He was a messenger for a few days just to say that he had been one.

Justified.

Psycho grrl will eventually get bit by karma. Sure, I enjoy bieks, but they don't define me---unlike this grrl with problems.

Be optimistic after the anger subsides. May be time for Hoshi blades.

Srry to hear about that scrod but life does have its a$$hats... you should've taken advantage of the ease of removal of knogs through. I'm glad you handled the situation as bad as it looked so well; if someone put their foot through one of my nicer wheels, the seatpost is coming off with saddle and people are going to feel the wrath of my ass hatchet.

... road 25 miles around Taipei, stopping for a little bit of water and a chat with an old man selling traditional corn filled hot buns. It was my first decent ride on my bike, and it blew me away. I averaged 15.6 mph with a slight headwind at the end of my ride. After I headed to a great little noodle shop for the lunch. The bike paths here are great and biking is easier that other forms of transportation in the city. It is going to be a good couple of years here.

That sucks Scrod, sorry to hear that.

(Yesterday) I got my bike back from the shop with new bars, tape, and brake levers:

Yeah, I know...shame on me for losing the lights but nothing ever happens around here, especially in the part of town where I was - she was just being an idiot.

I could tell she barely knew anything about bikes at all and once I heard "I'm a Brooklyn bike messenger bla bla blabbity bla", I called bull**** and walked away. She messed with my bike as some sort of "revenge" because I didn't play along and force myself to listen to the crap falling from her face.

Thanks man. It should be okay. I unlaced what was left of the spokes this morning and luckily, the rim isn't damaged beyond what a good truing/tensioning can't fix. It could have been much worse.

Yesterday I went to the park and rode around on the grass and learned the step through cyclocross dismount. It's not too hard, although a few times I managed to smash my right knee on the left end of my bars and now I have a lovely purple bruise. Fell a few times when I couldn't get my left foot unclipped. Whee.

That's good. I'm glad you didn't have to buy a new rim.
