TT, we were just made for eachother. You can cox my boat any day.

I had my 2k down under 7:00. I will have my own single scull one day

I briefly skimmed the article but it was pretty TL;DR. So what's the key to losing weight? I've always hated lifting.

Dannihilator 01-02-12 06:44 PM

Today I suffered like a dog with the wind, bonked hard, and threw up, cut ride short from 70 to 30 miles.

Nah, I may be small, but I'm way too heavy now. Most crews use women coxswains, because they are so much lighter. What kind of boat do you row in ?

I don't care for the key because I seem to found my balance at keeping around 200lbs. When I was under 200lbs I was either rowing crew, high intensity weight lifting, or riding 200+ miles a week - all under diet - diet meaning no soda pop and junk food :P

I rowed in high school a few years ago, but I still am extremely fond of it and think about it a lot. I was raced in an eight and four, and taught myself how to row in a pair and scull in a single.

Female coxswains seem to be a lot more vicious than males during races, which may be a good thing

I was too heavy at 115 lbs, so I was always relegated to the jv or second team. Since then I've gained a lot of weight, although I've lately managed to get back down to about 135 lbs. Of course, it's not all fat as I've added a lot of muscle mass for track racing.

Ha, I'm not. I'm 5'9"/145 lbs at the moment, and I barely cut down to 135 for nationals. Way over the weight limit, but what can I say? Rowing isn't a big hit at a school surrounded by cornfields, and our only tiny girl cox quit during winter training.

I started out as a rower, but I really can't compete with guys that are 6'3" and we only had enough guys/money for an eight. My fastest 2k was around 7:15-7:20, I think.

LesterOfPuppets 01-02-12 06:48 PM

I was pretty thin when I commuted a fast 35 miles 4x a week and a 50-100 mile ride on a day off. Pretty much ate nothing but spaghetti marinara alternating with spaghetti with sauteed squash.

Gnarly.

OMG those On*One canti's were a big fat headache... So Today I: threw on the Tektro Oryx, which are surprisingly much better...though I still haven't figured out all the minor adjustments on a Canti setup.

I know what you're saying, but this combination of words just doesn't make sense to me. I don't know why. I think friendships don't end, like if this person was really your friend, nothing would end that, so maybe this person wasn't really your friend. This is just someone you're not down with anymore.

Anyway, I went to work and shrugged off my students' attempts to get me to dance (because they heard that I'm good). Set up a meet to pick up some sugino 75's. Oh yeah, went to a restaurant and got a number (75) for a table for 3, then waited until the d-bag host calls 78 for a table for 3. They sit down and we were like "....?" and the d-bag didn't even apologize, he's just like "oh, okay". This is the guy's ONLY job, literally, to find the open tables and seat people, and he screwed that up.

Home now, probably gonna lift some weights and drink a beer.

yummygooey 01-02-12 10:15 PM

Maybe it's more like a friendship pause.

I would have requested to talk to his manager.

Didn't realize other guys on bfssfg used to row crew too! Sounds like you and I were in the same boat, TT (no pun intended). I was short, but stocky, at 125-130 lbs I was too heavy to be a coxie, but my legs were too short (a majority of the dudes on my team were floating between 6'1 and 6'6...yeah.) so if I hadn't had reaaaally good form, I would've been screwed. Ended up being bow pair for a year on one of my teams 8's, and stroke on the jv 4 (we medaled at states!). Think my fastest 2K, on the erg of course, was 7:12 or something like that. Now I just wish my nearest velodrome wasn't hours and hours away. I'd really like to get into track racing.

Lifting and calorie intake.

Actually, that's to get fit.

The key to losing weight is straight up calorie intake.

Pushed through almost constant headwinds and made my 10 miles commute in 39 minutes. Not really a big deal, but I usually time myself and get a tasty sense of satisfaction when I make it in under 40.

He's an older guy and goes through a lot of bikes, but he has had this one for 15 years. Arrrrr this bike has a long enough TT for me. He likes me, so if he ever decides to sell it he will contact me.

EpicSchwinn 01-03-12 05:06 PM

Today I last night I got invited to TuNiBiRi (Tuesday night bike ride) Spokane via a PM on vwvortex after posting in a thread about FG there. It'll be nice to network with some other people in town that ride fixed and explore new places to bike. Looks like they're going to do some races too :). So far judging by their promo videos they're all about busting mad balls to stem skidz though. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be like a macaframa edit .

Nice term. Me likey. How about "friendship respite"? That one is pretty nice because the words rhyme.

Nice. I'm lucky if I can do my 10 miler in 45. That might have more to do with the abundance of signals in downtown L.A. though.

Good start to today. Rode to the atm so my wife and I could make some deposits. Man, she is pretty bad about her work paychecks, she deposited 5 of them today. Met up a youngster to pick up some Sugizzle seventy five-izzles (YES!). Rode to a nice area and took some bike pics. Now I'm cooking/eating and contemplating how to spend my x-mas gift card.

*Also, almost forgot. On the way home, we saw this little 4 year old with her mom and she tripped on the curb and banged her knee on the ground. Pretty hard. Man, she shook it off like a BOSS, got back up and just kept going. If that was me, hell even right now, I would have been like this:
