I have not missed the snow. Three days of snowfall has been plenty.
|
I like the first big snow when everything is covered in white and all pretty.
After that it's really just a nuisance. |
Finally broke down a bought some cheap ass toe covers on my ride the other day.
17º and those Mavics are like standing in a bucket of ice water. http://distilleryimage5.instagram.co...3804ec91_7.jpg |
toe covers aren't enuf for me... my lake winter cycling shews are insanely warm and waterproof.
but i'd rather have toe covers than nothing.... and i'd rather be riding my bike then working on QCing masters. gonna hit out in the snow when I'm finished |
They do next to nothing.
Looking at full booties now. |
I guess I have bad circulation in my feet so neoprene booties don't cut it for me either... but at least I don't have to sit with my feet in a bath of hot water after every ride anymore!
|
i have an older version of these:

tryin' to the terror in me |

Went for a 40 minute run today for the first day of a Marathon Training class that I'm taking. Severely underdressed for the 9ºF weather and returned back to the classroom unable to feel my hands, toes, and ballsack. :(
Promptly bought a windproof running jacket online after that. Will have to try running in the thick wool socks that I normally use to bike to class as well as adding another layer of tights. :x But yeah, wool socks ftw. |
I went to the mall for the first time in a hundred years with my girlfriend so I could find a birthday present for my mother, had perfume in mind. It ended with my girlfriend looking for stuff for me because all my clothes are worn, old, and grungy. I felt like I was five again when my mother would drag me around the mall while she looked at clothes.
|
I like clothes :/
|
Dealing with serious crap today. I really just want to fast forward a few months from now to know how things turn out but it looks like I'm gonna have to do things the hard way.

Today I got another headache, its been a daily occurrence for the past week. Ugh, I need to get away from screens.
|
Today I got in a really good road ride. A new chain makes a world of a difference.

Today I went to the lab to get some bloodwork done, and while I was waiting my turn another patient collapsed and was taken away to the hospital. Afterwards, I went to a Jason's Deli and had a giant vegetarian samich, because I had to fast 24 hours before having the blood drawn, and was freakin starving. Right now I'm enjoying a nightcap, so if my posts seem a bit wierd that's why. Peace, love and fixies y'all.

By having your toes together you increase friction and blistering but you do not gain warmth. Wool is great for everything but running, especially marathons. You end up with a lot of moisture in your shoes on longer runs. While wool wicks, if there is nowhere to go - you still end up with foot stew. My injinjis have kept me good through -45 when I lived in Minnesota, running in 6' snowdrifts. |
today i got my Blackburn CO2 Inflator/multitool in the mail, and man, am I impressed. Comes with a 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8mm hex wrench, a torx T-25, flat head screwdriver, steel core tire lever, and a, from what i can tell, a decent quality chain breaker. OH, and the CO2 inflator, that has a lock/unlock switch to prevent wasting CO2, uses both 16g threaded and non-threaded cartridges. And i because i am a cheap ass, the first thing i did was figure out how to get it to work with 12g cartridges... just drop a penny into the cylinder where the cartridges go, and it holds the 12g high enough and snug enough to fill the tube. 12g got it to 100 PSI, and the 16g got it to 130ish, says my digital pressure gauge.
plus a lifetime warranty. get one. |
Any blackburn product that I have ever owned has failed prematurely on me.

Also...I went to the Boa Technology web site and picked up extra laces, extra spool and BOA tool for free... BOA will provide the laces and replacement parts for no charge for the life of the product. --> http://www2.boatechnology.com/warranty.php |
