He's 15, 6 feet tall and 120 lbs. I want to get him into racing but that fixie thing was a show stopper. I don't think I will ride my fixie to my parents' house anymore

Today I realized that yesterday I spelled "brakes" as "breaks". I'm dumb.

Same here, bro.

I passed a bike cop training ride on my way home from a club ride. There were about 25 of them and they were all riding on the sidewalk.

That's pathetic.

hairnet 06-08-11 08:37 PM

Here they ride 2 abreast. Be sure that no ordinary cyclists gets to do this without being chastised

screamtone 06-08-11 09:00 PM

They were on the sidewalk, but the sidewalk was on the perimeter of a medium size park, so it's not like there was a ton of foot traffic from shops, bars, etc. Maybe they were going to patrol the park, but there were an awful lot of them. For the record, I think riding on the sidewalk is stupid dangerous and not cool to do for pedestrians' sake.

Anyway, I dropped them all. They might not have known that we were racing, though.

I have a hard time believing it, that's illegal in a lot of places. From what I've heard bike cops get pretty intensive training, they aren't just handed black Cannondales and told to cruise around. Last saturday was my city's annual street fair where they close down the main drag and it fills with carnival like stuff and thousands of pedestrians. They had bike cops and I saw one of them take a 12 stair like it was no big deal.

edit: hairnet, you really get **** from the cops for riding two abreast? I'm pretty sure that is legal (as in, specifically mentioned in written law) everywhere for both bikes and motorcycles.

RaiderInBlue47 06-08-11 09:24 PM

Today I had another adventure with my nearly non-existent front brakes. Went down a hill way too fast, turned too tightly and slid the right pedal on the road. Kicked the bike out WAY left and threw my balance way off but I saved it.

I think it's time for some new pads?

It's legal but they don't like it. Last time it happened I was pulled over for "impeding traffic" and was given a warning. The road wasnt all that busy and he was a total ass about it

Riding 2 abreast in Vancouver is illegal but I am not sure about the rest of the province or country.

EpicSchwinn 06-08-11 10:46 PM

Today I thoroughly cleaned and relubricated my drivetrain. It's super quiet now.

Ftfy.

I got my track bike back from out-on-loan status, packed the hubs with fresh grease (win), did not clean the drivetrain (fail), put my new Cinelli stem on (win), old 1 1/8" top cap didn't fit (fail), ghetto-screwed it on anyway and rode into town. It was really hot. After the ride, stopped at convenience store and bought a 320z Gatorade, a fruit salad, and a pack of cigarettes. Recovered from overheating. Stopped in at LBS asked if they had any 1" top caps, and got one for free. Chea!

cc700 06-08-11 11:42 PM

well my ftp shipped, so to hell with the visp. i think my price is totally fair. ****'s basically new, plus you get a setpost.

and i should have advertised that the complete price is with a full carbon bianchi fork.

oh, also, today i commuted and blew a tire clean out, ripped a dime size whole in an epic skid. had to bus up the hill home.

EpicSchwinn 06-09-11 07:40 AM

Today I woke up way too early to take my dad to the airport. Not early enough to get more sleep before work though.

Today I, (Yesterday I,) Got my bike shipped to the office. Assembled it. Quickly learned the difference between Schraeder and Presta valves. Threw a fit, dashed to the LBS in search of an adapter.

Retrieved adapter. Inflated tires. Unbridled glee.

TODAY I: Rode my bike to work fixed the first time! More than a bit nerve-wracking, but smooth sailing with two brakes! I'm one happy camper.

jdgesus 06-09-11 06:27 PM

^^awesome (i love tacoma btw)

^You can ask cervelo the exact same thing; over engineering is the "thing" right now. Yeah I've seen them in the ads and recently bought one for a nephew's birthday to my in law's-less than happy approval.

Hothead286 06-09-11 08:31 PM

People see how cool engineering is and throw money at it.

Dannihilator 06-09-11 08:37 PM

Today I worked, and had a great session at the pumptrack.

Tomorrow I have the day off...

hamish5178 06-09-11 09:09 PM

Today I had a long shift in the kitchen, just like yesterday, just like tomorrow. Currently resisting the urge to buy a Dura-Ace tubular wheelset. . .

That last part isn't going so well. . .

yummygooey 06-09-11 09:23 PM

Today I went to Jimmy John's for $1 subs only to find out I went to the ONE LOCATION that wasn't participating. I had to settle for 25% off mayo x alfalfa sprouts x bread collabo.

When I got home from work I salvaged a chain I totally jacked up by using the wrong size chain tool. All better now...
