Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Where do you ride that kind of distance? I can't think of anywhere within 50 miles of here that I could ride 100+ miles at a decent speed, not having to stop every few miles.

Today I am skeptical of Strava. Looking over my stats for today's ride, it says I did 9.4 miles in 37 minutes (reasonable), at an average speed of 15.3 mph (reasonable), and my top speed was 65 mph (...WHAAAAA). You must be out your damn mind if you think I went that fast.

rec'd the wrong cog in the mail, Park chain whip exploded and had a tire lever break and try to blind me.

yay shop glasses.

but, my aunt and uncle had the local Chinese restaurant cater their 50th anniversary. good food, stories with family and plenty of Tsingtao balanced out the day....

Today I...

started getting annoyed at the rollover banner ads that have appeared on Bikeforums. What's more annoying is that they are for local car dealers and maxi pads. Kinda hope they aren't pulling those from my search history somehow loool. Unfortunately most of my BF time is at work so no way to download another browser or adblock addons =/

A buddy of mine his 21st birthday is today so he had a lil party last night, went over after work because his house is really close to my job, drove there wishing the whole time I could just ride there dreading the drive home. Stay till 5:30 am playing beerpong only to try to leave and my front tire is flat... The bolts holding the wheel on were on super tight, almost impossible. Took like an hr to finally change, the whole time I was thinking "if this was my bike I would be home by now." CARS WHY!!?!?!!!!

Just found out I have the wrong cog too (thanks for covering my ass and warning me before I installed it, good sir).
Bought a Nitto Noodle to replace my Soma El Torro before my next race in May. I'll be the only goofball on a fixed, steel, purpose-built conversion in this little 35 mile charity ride - and I still intend to pull the roadies through all their gears.

Today, by some miracle, I'm not hungover. Packing for my trip to Nashville. Watching Mythbusters. Good times.

I need new 26.0 clamp drop bars, and I've been trying to decide between the Nitto Noodle (177) and Nitto Dream (176). I want to try both. :<

Scrod had them for sale at Retro, so I pulled the trigger.

today I got my hubs overhauled on the centurion I just bought*. they tell me the back one will never be 100% smooth because it went so long being as tight as it was when I got it :/ it still spins fine for now and am debating on riding it to Austin this weekend. going to clean it up tonight, put on new bar tape, seatpost and saddle. considering putting the brooks saddle I have with the honey tape on there or my concor on there with white tape. was hoping to find a black frame to put my pink tape to use, but I don't think it works here

*saddle definitely not mine

Did they say if the hub races are pitted? If it's just the cones then you might be able to install a new axle assembly
