the top toob is the worse.. i can actually flex the tubing in the center of the top tube with my (herculean) grip.
paint is Über fragile.
i will sell it to you for $100 if i ever get a replacement
it is an absolute joy to ride tho. light, stiff, yet not deathly so.

the thin walled tubing is so easy to dent. ( i gave up counting them )

Today I went on some sort of "chill ride" with Jandro. It was not that chill :
https://app.strava.com/rides/7359394
19.9mph rolling avg. over 35 miles... very flat, kinda zippy. I was already hurting from the last 2 days. I volunteered to go on this ride solely because I thought it would be slower.
Right after rolling out of bed half asleep we smash at 26mph for ~2 miles. That's what I get for showing up late I guess. Miss the warmup party and the coffee and pastries.

Took my passenger crank arm to my lbs to get the threads fixed. Now I got my new pedals on.

I made it to the front page of the segment!: https://app.strava.com/rides/7351341#137789525
Sorry boo, had to catch the group! It was fun taking a step into the pain cave to do it! The headwinds were relentless, too.

I ran out of juice after that final pull into the headwind and fell behind 3 seconds for that segment. That was a good 10 minutes of pain cave, which made the rest of the ride pretty chill in comparison.
Still kicking.

Did this:

with weather conditions that included a fun headwind with winds SSE at 20 to 25 mph.
I'm feeling pretty weak when comparing myself against almost anybody in BFSSFG though.
I did, however, do this on Monday:
https://app.strava.com/runs/7229255
So I know I have the endurance, just need to build up more power.
I'm putting on a 15t on the back tomorrow to replace my 18t. So I'll be running 46x15 versus 46x18. I'm going to assume that'll help me significantly with top-end speed on the longer flats.

Also 15mph avg. speed into headwind is not slow.

Today I went camera shopping. 2 different camera shops, 2 rivaling camera bodies. I still can't get over the fact that the d800 has an ungodly 36.3 mp (yeah, yeah, yeah, megapixels don't matter that whole much but this is off the charts) and how my glass is dictating my decision. The mkiii is like seeing an old friend through, being nearly body doubles with the mkii.
Get the D800.
The MkIII isn't a good enough upgrade over the II imho.
I still have a D100, D200 and 3 F4 bodies.

Today I set out and actually did a recovery ride on the fixed gear. 30% chance of rain.
.... good thing I don't gamble.

And guess who sold both his bodies trying to avoid the big drop in resale following the announcement and is now with just a collection of orphaned L glass?
Yeah I arrived at that conclusion; I do have a new ep3 in the meantime. Decisions, decisions.... anyhow I feel the majority of the guys upgrading to an mkiii are the ones who held back with the original 5D.

I own a 550d (t2i). The D800 was not out when I was shopping
Runners usually make great cyclists once they get some base miles in. 46x18 is a REALLY low gear - especially for flats. You will notice a HUGE increase in top speed with a 15T and at 80 gear inches, it's perfect for flats. At a comfy 100rpm, 80gi will put you at about 24mph with little or no wind.
