Today my Cuban friend brought me some plátanos maduros. First day since my surgery that I've been able to eat something good. ¡Muy delicioso!

The top speeds from several efforts were very close to my PB.

I think the new bike fit had a LOT to do with that. It's still not perfect. I needed a longer stem today. I put on a longer one when I got home. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

I'm glad I dragged myself out of bed!

T-Town! I miss that place.

Today I got stuck behind the most annoying cyclist ever on my ride home.

1. Pedal pedal coooaaaast pedal pedal pedal cooooaaassst pedal pedal coooast. He would totally mash it during the very short pedal stints and then coast and slow down.

2. He had big headphones on and clearly couldn't hear the traffic because he kept glancing back (seriously like every 5 seconds) so I didn't feel safe passing him until I had lots of room -- I couldn't tell if he was going to move into the lane or not.

It's bike to work week here in Chicago (we do it a month later here than everywhere else to avoid the likelihood of it being 40 degrees and raining), and it's like amateur hour on the streets. So much slow and stupid all at once.

(Also I am clearly an elitist ******* cyclist that hates everyone and if I believed in hell, I'd be headed there.)

its the first climb. its only a grade 5 but it was killer! it stays pretty steady then at the end its really steep.
Just curious: What gearing are you rocking on the Samson?
I used to do that climb coming home from work when I lived in Washington Heights. It was manageable on 42/17, but when i upgraded to 46/17, I wussed out and switched routes to go through Central Park instead. Now that I live in Queens, I kinda miss bombing down that hill at 8am and taking the greenway all the way to 23rd.

My gearing is 49/19. I was all good up until the very last part of it. If I didn't have the spd's I probably wouldnt have made it.

Today I witnessed a guy unclip while trying to stop at a red light on a huge hill. He crossed 3 lanes just to avoid getting hit by traffic entering a freeway. I pull up next to him and he's checking out his pedals. He looked kinda freaked out.
I hate to say it but he had the typical hipster look,(Not hating because I like to look cool too, just saying though)
tight jeans, cool orange beenie, and music blasting out of his backpack. wtf?
Light turns green and he makes a mad dash only to hit another red light. So he starts skidding but it looked like he couldn't stop the bike even if his life depended on it. He barely misses the pedestrians crossing and passes the red.

the last incident made me think he just couldn't stop at the hill and unclipped on his own.

yo buddy, if your on these forums learn how to ride ******. You give us all a bad name. and get a brake

Sorry for the rant

Went to the beach with my wife after a car ride with the top down on a hot summer day. Then had dinner next to the sea.

Today I played bike lane chicken with some idiot riding the wrong way. Interesting fact- 90% of people who ride bikes in the hood go the wrong way in bike lanes.

Today I sold a panasonic frame, biked around helping a friend look for an apartment (because she's in the "if I act incompetent someone will do it for me" crowd) and against my better judgement ate taco bell
