I got home today. Which is a lot different then the last couple days. I'm kickin it at home. going to take a shower then go met up with some friends and kick it Midnight Ridazz style, in the park, with a brew and a Black and Mild wine flavored wood tip.

A few days ago at the shop I work at some guy came in and started *****ing because one of our mechanics said his bike wouldn't be done for a few days. His argument was that he was a commuter and he rides everyday therefore he should get put to the front of the line. Our mechanic politely told him that 80% of our customers are commuters and ride every day (statistic not based on fact) so he'd have to wait. The guy got super pissed off so our head mechanic yelled at him to get out and find another shop but he ended up still leaving his bike.
He came to pick it up today, right as we were closing, and yelled at us again because he said we miscommunicated with him and put on more expensive cranks than he wanted even though they were the only ones that would work for his bottom bracket and we told him that. My manager told him to leave so he ended up not paying at all and then said he'd tell everyone he knows never to come to our shop again.
He made a huge deal out of nothing because he wasn't the most special person of the bunch and caused a whole ruckus while we were closing. I'll be glad to never see him again.

unfortunately there will always be bad customers like that. that it got that bad, and that it ended so poorly, is not always a necessary outcome of such a situation. your manager is a bad manager.
Your shop probably could have handled it better; politely telling him he's just like eight out of ten customers is dumb... you should have said "we do good work that takes time and we finish customers bikes on time... we don't make others wait because someone else thinks they're more important. if you want that, go find a shop with a lot of unfinished bikes around and throw money at the mechanic until they compromise their integrity."
really when it comes down to it, your manager sucks. the manager is there to make sure those situations don't get to that point and don't end like that.
and even if your manager doesn't suck... because honestly i don't know how it went and your manager may not have had any chance to intervene... striknein's right ... can't please everyone. that kind of interaction is part of retail.

It sounded like that relationship was crap from the outset, and the mistake was made in trying to salvage it.

Today spent the morning at the pumptrack, wiped down the dj bike, got cleaned up, dropped car off to get the brakes replaced. Finally ended the day with a easy ride up and down the home road.

Traveled back to the yay area.
Caught up with some gaming on my gaming computer after a long hiatus away from home, duke nukem forever and alice madness. Still can't believe the monstrocity in mass (there's a quite generous power to mass ratio through heh) booted up and ran without a hitch after this dormancy, countless back updates to do through.
Seriously ghetto pic bro, taken with a CFL instead of a proper ring light (relates to second guy) and I highly doubt that guy with a rolls royce tattoo on his chest has one or can afford the likes of one in actuality.

I wouldn't say he's a bad manager, he really didn't have a chance to intervene until the end because the guy had kinda targeted our mechanic and was latching onto blaming him and made it very difficult to deal with. It just kinda shook up everything, I have no idea how it really escalated to the level it did. As far as I know they told him to leave but he left his bike to be worked on anyways and so they serviced it how they thought they should. But yeah, normally things go a lot smoother.
Regardless, the day is over and it's time to move onto the next one. Hopefully there will be some good nice rides and I will acquire the Bianchi Milano Parco I've been wanting.

Today my legs definitely weren't ready for the early morning ride/climbs I put them through and I have a feeling I'll be hobbling around like I'm 80 years old for the rest of the day .

Today I rode to work 10 miles in this.
With the right frame of mind (and as long as it's not too cold) riding in the rain is fun. Just have to remember to give yourself a few extra feet stopping distance... The lightning was a little scary but mostly just cool looking. Made me feel even more badass.

The storm this morning was sweet. The storm going from the burbs towards Chicago wasn't as bad as the rain two weeks ago (couldn't see past 10 feet on the highway due to the torrential downpour), but there was some really cool lightning.
That being said, I don't really enjoy riding in the rain if I'm trying to go somewhere. I'll occasionally go ride in the rain for fun, though.

And I think there are instances in which it is reasonable to repair a bike before others that were brought in first, but that depends on the particular circumstances. If it wasn't reasonable to do so in this case, just say that you have other customers who are expecting their bikes back on schedule.
