Ran a bunch of errands down town today and actually regretted taking my Raleigh 20 (my usual downtown bike) as the wind was brutal and I might of well put up a sail... but then riding into winds like this sucks on any bike.

Took a few minutes to cut down the bars on my Pug... I have fairly broad shoulders for a small guy but those uncut Eastons are nearly as wide as the door to my shop and I like my bars a little narrower than that... something about clipping trees on the trails bothers me. Took them down by almost 4 inches and now they are just right.

Seriously... I have my own little Shimano 600 project going on and am just waiting on my brifters and brakes to arrive and need to build wheels around my hubs.

It is a really sweet group.

Bike south to downtown, headwinds. Bike northwest on an errand, headwinds. Back southeast, headwinds. Beer. Later, further southeast, likely into headwinds, and then north almost to city limits, probably with headwinds.

You have to love days like this... where the you always seem to be riding into the wind.

It's the only way I get anything close to a hill haha.

how about days when it feels like you're riding into the wind but then you look at the trees and they're not moving...

Today I got a scorching 35 miles in and got a nice little sun tan, the difference between my usual 1230 am rides and a 1pm ride is redicilous with all the traffic and heat from passing trucks, almost had a bus hit me and told the bus driver I am not afraid to walk up his steps and pull him out of the bus when he had the audacity to tell me to ride on the sidewalk on a 2 lane road with 6 ft shoulder, public transportation man why

+1 on the tri color 600 being awesome. I've only had mine a week and a half and I'm loving it.

Today I had some squeaking in my Kazane's drivetrain so I cleaned and repacked the bb and re-greased everything on the bike. Smoove like butta.

Have been changing the orphaned groups on my Proctor from Cyclone / Superbe / Modolo to a full 600 group... my 600 brifters arrived today.

The 600 crank I am using (not a tricolour) is way stiffer than the Cyclone and the 600 rear d works better than the Mk3 Cyclone which is a good derailleur but nothing like it's predecessors.

Today I will be bottling my bourbon barrel aged IPA while drinking some BPA. While I hate bottling, I will enjoy getting a taster of the bourbon IPA before it goes in the bottle.

xavier853 05-29-12 05:41 PM

Dang where did you get the bourbon barrel? And I like bottling! I'm making a stout that has quite a while to go. I am so excited

hamfoh 05-29-12 05:51 PM

today State Bicycle Co. was kind enough to send me a frame for our drag race in June. Prolly and Soma also agreed to help out with some schwag. Had a few people ignore me, but it's really awesome that the cycling community is willing to take a chance on people

Thought about putting an asterisk, and i guess i should have. It is faked of course, oak chips soaked in bourbon, but still should get the desired effect.

Is it weird that I pronounce Dura-Ace as "Dura- Ache?" with the same ch as chair? I dont know how to put my thoughts into the english language.

xavier853 05-29-12 07:14 PM

No because that's the correct pronunciation.
