Today I:
I'm reading up on century rides, and all the sources are telling me to start preparing like 3-4 weeks, even months, in advance.
lol wut. That almost makes me feel bad about not preparing at all (I'm doing one this week). As in I've been doing like 20 mile rides. I think I can get away with it. It's going to be flat, and I'm better on a road bike, so hopefully I'll do fine.

Yeah, the stem's getting swapped. PO has the original Cinelli he's willing to meet up and give it to me. It's definitely going on there.
It's an '89 Stowe Criterium. PO added Tricolor STIs in the mid 90s.

I went from maybe 50-75 miles a week to a 130 mile ride. My butt hurt, but all else was good. 40 miles was on gravel/crushed limestone, too.

Today I was surfing around my usual hangouts and realized that TMonk's roadie was stolen yesterday night...

STOLEN BICYCLE !!!
Hey guise. My bike was stolen last night after tuesday night velodrome hangout/beer drinking.
We (Jo and I) were eating Mexican food across the street from Ditta's shop at the time when it happened. Does anyone know the name of that mex place? I need it for my police report...
It was leaned up against her bike against the window, but my back was turned to it (idiot). I was all of 15 feet away from it...
Fortunately her bike did not get stolen, jus mine.
Anyway please keep a look out. It's a unique ride so it should be easy to spot if it stays in SD.
Frame: Soul Faith bb30 matte black
Fork: 3T funda pro, “cervelo” labeled, red and black
Crankset: Cannondale SI hollowgram
Chainrings: FSA
Wheels: Kinlin XR-270, “psimet” labeled, novatech hubs
Tires: Rubino Pro Slick
Handlebar: 3T Rotundo Pro 40cm
Stem: FSA OS-99
Saddle: Nashbar race white
Seatpost: Thomson masterpiece
Brakes: Sram Red
Shifers: Sram Red
Rear derailleur: Sram Force
Front derailleur: Sram Rival
Bar Tape: Fizik black soft touch
Last seen: At Mexican restaurant across the street from Brooklyn Bicycles in Normal Heights, next to 7-Eleven.
Stolen: Approx 9:30-10:00pm
If you can provide me with any information leading to the recovery of my bike, I will give you $100.
Please contact David G at 760-XXXXXXXX
Thanks,
David G.

Was just awarded another scholarship for next year. Brings my total to a hair under $20k, and my tuition is only $7.5k for the year, so I'm getting a massive return.
If you're reading this, and are in college, and aren't applying for scholarships, you need to. As a white male, I am probably exempt from at least 75% of scholarships, and have still paid for my first year of college, have my second year paid for, due to renewable scholarships have all of college paid for, and have made quite a bit of profit. There is soooooo much money that people are trying to give away.

Fortunately i've got all sorts of people in the fixed and roadie community around here on the look out. Whoever took it is going to have to sell it far away from here or part it out, and even then the frame might sounds some bells and whistles.
What I really hope happens is that some one spots some bum in hillcrest riding it around
.Thanks though, seriously. I'm still pretty upset about it; there's about 2500 USD in that thing right there.
Also I pretty much have to buy the Blue now if I want a high end road bike next year.

That's a lot of $'s. Worth it though I guess.
got invited to do a 4hr town ride Saturday with the local 20-something-alterna-bohemian cycle collective. ends up at a Lebanese cafe run by a sweet little old lady that will give us discount meals. i can already hear shwarma and fresh baklava/Turkish coffee calling my name.
should be interesting. taking the 722ts.
also waiting for a slightly used Ridley Crossbow frame to arrive. building an alternate CX commuter. going with 1x10 and a friction bar end shifter. originally started out modifying my Nashbar steel/carbon CX, but things got out of hand and i'm going to have enough parts for two bikes before long. n+1 and all.....*sigh*

TOday I learned my sisters friend was beat down and murdered a few days ago in the City: https://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/...me_jimenez.php
Drafted a pickup with a carbon fuji in the back for about 4 miles on my mtb on knobbies at the speed of traffic. Big grin and thumbs up from the driver when we finally hit a light.
Then I got on my Stowe and busted my ass when I broke a chain at full sprint. Third chain this year, fourth ever, first doing anything but a HTFU climb. Ow.
Either I'm a beast and bike parts can't hang... Or I buy worn bikes that need more overhaul than I give them. Probably the latter.

Today I was too lazy to cook and ended up using it as an excuse for me and the sqrl to ride downtown to grab some eats.
You bet. Bikes don't buy themselves. Trust me.
Anytime. I'm keeping an eye out. That blue is sure darn purdy through... *hint hint
But losing a steed this way sucks any you look at it. Let the bike gods rain their fury on the perp.

Hey thanks man. I was thinking of posting here but I thought that would be even more of a long shot than sdfixed or my police report...

Currently, I cannot find my protype BB and I'm annoyed about it.
Did you check between the crank arms?
That's where I put mine.

Today I rebuilt the 6 speed Uniglide on my XT wheelset and built up an ass kicking half step for my touring bike... also changed the shifter cable housing and tyres to Schwalbe Silentos which have a great rollout and an amazing ride quality.

After that we went down to the bridge as I had volunteered to do bike checks at the Wednesday night "Mocktails".
