I knew your SN sounded familiar.

Ghostface and Raekwon would be amazing. I'm jealous.

I don't think they performed anything they put out after Wu Forever ('97). Hour and 20 minute set of classic hits. I was impressed.

Today I decided that I need to leave Chicago. Too many painful memories here. My wife agrees to either San Francisco, Austin, or Portland. Now to start saving money.

I don't miss it, and I don't think I'd ever go back. Two weeks out of my job now and I look and feel 1,000X better.

SF duh... the cost of living here is redickulus through but I'll let your wallet do the speaking.

See, I'm thinking I need something other than a kitchen, but I really don't know how to do anything else. It's just that kitchens tend to promote stress and alcoholism. They also promote rampant drug use, but I've moved beyond that part. I'm just sick of it.

That's kinda the direction I'm leaning. My wife's company has an office in Oakland I think, so she wouldn't have to find a new gig.

hamfoh 06-18-12 02:55 AM

cost of living in Austin or Portland is seriously so much smaller than SF that your wife could be jobless in those cities and you'd still probably be more financially secure :p

Bike + BART; you're set.

Plus parking is a b*tch in most neighborhoods in SF...

Today i am checking the shipment status of my 722 every time i go into the stockroom at work

Also: what is up with this wind in NYC?

garlic_rice 06-18-12 07:53 AM

Today I rode to work with new lower gearing. Then I got to work and realized that this time last year, I was commuting 46/17 fixed brakeless and making the same time as this morning's 42/18 freewheel; difference being my knees love me more now.

(feelsgoodman)

Kinda starting to miss fixed though, might go back after the 1x8 build is finished.

Hay Perro is playing at Cal's downtown on Friday. I'm going.

Those are all nice, but they're no #1.

Grunge is coming back in Seattle. Hipster backlash.

I don't get the Portland blurb. A bar where you can play shuffleboard? Huh? There are tons of bars in tons of cities where you can play shuffleboard.

jdgesus 06-18-12 12:29 PM

i think by shuffleboard, they meant hairy strippers

Ran a bunch of errands on the 20... delivered hot lunches and then stopped by a few shops to price a touring stove and make sure the bottle fit my bike and then did a little speed test on the bike highway which is about as dead flat as it comes.

With the new freewheel and a slightly higher top gear (88 gear inches) got the bike spun up to 26 mph into a 13mph crosswind... woot !

All this means is that the legs are working a little better than they have been as I used to be able to hit 35mph on this same stretch and the folder deals with wind better than most bikes due to a lower frontal area which greatly improves the aerodynamics.

Rode a nice 30 miles. Found out Converge, Refused and American Nightmare are playing FYF fest in September here in LA. Pretty happy but theres gonna be a bunch of hipsters :/

jdgesus 06-18-12 02:00 PM

i hit 13mph on my folder today.

Refused is back together? Why don't people tell me these things?

Sweet... I think that is the top speed on an unmodified Raleigh Twenty as you are sitting so very upright that the wind resistance just kills you.

I know because I have a stock Twenty that is pretty sucktastic if you have to ride into headwinds and the 3 speed does not always allow for being in the optimal gear.
