reminds me of last night. going through a NEIGHBORHOOD road and I notice a car behind me, so I slow down and get behind my friend so he has a ton of room to pass. dude still lays on his horn as he passes us. I was like god dammit, even when I go out of my way to be helpful people are ********. he even had his wife and a kid in the car. I know you're probably talking about something more serious but it annoyed the living **** out of me.

I had an adventure trying to find a place to cut down the crown race on my fork for a new headset. My shop is small and a crown race cutting not a common procedure :/ Of course I'm not going to pay some dude to do it, my two mechanic friends at the local REI were out, and in the end I had to ride several miles to my co-op on my shop's electric assist bike. never went 20mph so damn easily

People really just don't understand that bicycles are a valid form of awesomeness.
|
Makes me want to stop all of the people who drive like ass holes, put them on a bike, and tell them to keep up with me on the road. I think they'll appreciate cyclists a tiny bit more.
|
my friend who was with me was annoyed too. he's an athletic guy and he said he sprinted ahead and gave him a good 10 second stare down of angry black man face (I saw him in front of the SUV but didn't know what he was doing) before move out of his way at the stop sign. we rode behind the dude a for a little bit (we were going to same way) and then he turned onto a side street, part of me wondered if he was really going that way.
**** with enough cyclists and eventually you'll find one with as short of a temper as yours and end up with a u lock through your window |

back when i had my ducati i used to ride with a bunch of harley dudes, my one friend carried a small cutdown balpeen hammer in his pocket for when "cagers" would get out of control, i never seen him use it but one day he just didnt have it anymore, i didnt ask where it went.
ive had some people honk at me and to be honest i look to see if it means im gonna get hit, and if its just someone that doesnt know how to move over 36 inches to get around me i carry on my merry way of fitness and freedom |

Yesterday I attended the second day of my Ruby programming class, and it was awful. I'm not stupid, but the guy was clearly not very good at teaching programming and just went way too fast through the material. That was really ****ing demoralizing. But then I decided hey, I know a bunch of people that program, including a dude that does Ruby and is always after me to come to these "Code and Coffee" meetups at a downtown coffee shop on Tuesday mornings. (At 7am. Ugh.)
So this morning I get up at 5:30 am, and pack up my giant MW bag with all my work clothes, makeup, etc.; my bike tools and a u-lock; my laptop, charger, and a 650-page Ruby book. It was ****ing heavy as hell. 45 minutes later I pull up to the coffee shop, get the u-lock out of my bag, and grab my keys to unlock it... And I had the wrong ****ing lock (we have several laying around our basement). I didn't have the key to the one I brought. The hilarious/stupid/frustrating part is I've done this before (jimmytango has witnessed it) so I even color coded all the locks and keys with colored electrical tape. But that doesn't do much good if you don't actually check to see you've grabbed the right color. So I lugged a ridiculously heavy backpack all the way downtown and got up an hour early, for nothing. And now I have to try to catch myself up on this Ruby class without any help. Sigh. |

I say you get a big dangly hipster keychain and put all your lock keys on it...That way you always have the right key.:thumb:
Today, I'm on my way to Indiana to go to the funeral of the only person in my family besides my sister who I was ever close to. My sister died 4.5 years ago, and my aunt killed herself Friday. There is no longer a single person in my family that I care to associate with. Today isn't going to be a good day. |
