Do you eat meat? There's a RIGHTEOUS bbq joint on Lunt just west of Western. I forget the name but it's quite good. They have several sauces, I dug the one with a "C" on it, which I think was for "chipotle". The pulled pork was damn good and the "meaty beans" were awesome too.
I'd be down to hit that up sometime or just ride bikes or whatever. I don't get up that way often but I'll try to holler next time I do.
It's called Rub, I was just there a couple weeks ago. BYOB, outdoor seating, walking distance from my house. It's fantastic - they won judge's choice best ribs at Rib Fest a few weeks ago. Try the truffled mac and cheese. You probably liked the chipotle citrus sauce; I prefer the other one, but they're both great.

Today I decided on my ride to work that I need to eat a little better, get rid of a little pudge here and there... and then promptly got a bacon/egg "power panini thin" and a chai latte from Corner Bakery. It's so hard to not chow down after riding 10 miles to work! Plus, today I am on my heavy geared commuter because I needed the rack. That thing weighs like 30lbs not including the load in the panniers.

ETA: Also I need to learn to trust my instincts. I thought it was weird that my rear tire on the commuter was so low on air when I topped it off this morning, but ignored my "you probably have a slow leak" instincts and rode it anyway. I'm pretty sure I do, in fact, have a slow leak. Sigh.

I think that just means there was already a higher(highest) bid so it just says you have been out bid.

@misskaz - my buddy got that truffled mac and it was pretty good, nice and creamy, quality stuff but I don't really like truffle oil all that much so I only had a bite or two. I'll have to try the ribs next time. Damnit now I want bbq and the loop has none. Well, Skrine Chops is pretty decent but not exactly bbq...

Like hairnet said that's just someone else's higher max bid kicking in. They have a $20 max bid on it and you put in $12 then you're instantly outbid.

Robots don't bid until there are like 20 seconds left in an auction.

Best ebay policy is to find an item you want, set a reminder for when the auction ends, wait until under a minute left (under 30 seconds ideally) and bid your highest bid you'd be willing to pay.
I'm so sick of people jacking prices up by bidding on items that don't end for days yet. That makes no sense at all usually.

Got it. Yeah, meat is my friend. How have I not been there yet? Kaz was telling me about it when she went.

The truffle is pretty intense, definitely. I had leftovers and my entire fridge smelled of truffle for days. BTW, not sure what kind of lunch break you get but we should do lunch someday.

Just 'cause I'm short doesn't mean I'm thin. I definitely am, erm, well-insulated around my waist, hips, and thighs. I'd like to be able to see the muscles I know are under there, and the only way to do that is to eat clean and lose fat. There are two problems, though: 1. I know from past experience that when I diet I get dangerously obsessive about it. It makes me a rather not pleasant person to be around, and is not very good for my own mental health. So it's tough to strike a balance. and 2. I tend to lose fat from my waist, hips, and thighs last and that's frustrating and annoying. Oh, three problems, I guess: 3. I like food and beer.

Well misskaz I had the pleasure of meeting you in person recently and I can definitely say you don't need to lose any weight. But if you want to and you think it'll make you happier, then have at it, but yeah food and beer are serious threats to that mission.

And as far as lunch, I can take as long as I want but I usually just do 30 mins so that I don't have to stay at work any longer. Sometimes I meet friends for lunch and take a full hour but that just means I have to make up the time. No big deal. I would definitely meet for lunch. I'm at Madison and Clinton but I can bike wherever. I usually eat at 11am or 1130am but again, I can basically come and go as I please as long as I put in the hours. I just choose those early lunch times because it's less crowded out there, and because I'm in at 615am-630am

My word - is he carrying his folding bike under his shirt?
The socks/sandals really tie the outfit together.

Haha! No, seriously guys, she is skinny. Don't let her fool you. Just because you don't have a six-pack doesn't mean you need to lose weight.

Today I will be receiving my Retrogression order in the mail.
So tonight I get to put some sahweeeet Nitto bullhorns on my ride and wrap'em with Lizard Skins.
Still haven't decided what to do about my brakes though. I have bar end levers now (front & rear) but I'm itching to remove the back brake. It's a decision that is best made before I wrap the bars, obviously.
Just seems foolish to remove brakes that are already there. I understand not wanting to buy and install rear brakes but if they're already there... It's not really hurting anything and sometimes if I'm in a pinch and my left arm is busy signalling or steering, I can use the rear brake to slow me down a little. Basically I like having the brakes while I learn more about riding fixed. I've only been riding FG for a couple weeks.
Thoughts??

Same with the canti's on my Diamondback. The noise gets irritating in traffic, but it clears geese, people, and other animals out of your way like you wouldn't believe.

I think the problem in my case is that the canti posts attempt to rotate the pads to be flat when against the rims, but if you're feathering the brakes, the tail end is contacting first, causing the squeal. So you need to really toe the pads in to get around that.

Nothing wrong with running brakes. You're the guy riding your bike every day around busy Chicago streets. If you think the rear brake is a practical thing to retain, then keep it. It certainly isn't going to hamper your riding at all.

True. Thanks.

I also feel like it would look weird to have just one bar end brake lever...

It'd look better than having only one hood. I say leave it until you don't use it for a month. I left mine on for a while, Kaz had hers on for a few months, IIRC. Screw it. Ride however it makes you happy.

I pulled mine off soon after flipping to fixed because my frame doesn't have cable guides, so I had to use ugly clips to hold the rear brake cable (see pic in sig). I was happy to rid the bike of them, but I'm not sure I would have cared otherwise.
