the roubaix have pretty lax geometry and aren't the stiffest bikes. theyre def not race bikes.
ill probably always own a steel rig to serve the same purpose that a roubaix would

Today I accidentally put in about 25 miles on my way to work 3 miles from home. The weather in new jersey today was nice. I like fighting a strong wind when it's nice and hot out

today i have been lobsterified at the waterpark
the whole drive to/from all i was thinking about was "wow, i want to ride these hills."
vernon nj on rt 23 has some intense hills, think in about 8 miles i went up at least 1000 ft
2 weeks ago i was on 209 and thought the same thing, though not as intense, just looked like a great ride

At first glance I thought that Mountain Cycle was an Alpinestars and was getting all excited.
Not that the Mountain Cycle isn't something to get excited over also.

here's an album with a pretty consistent angle on most of what's in there (some have been sold, some have been added without pics)

Today I rode critical mass with my sqrl. This was her first ride over 5 miles. It didn't go well.

Tonight while riding home from work I got stopped by a cop, for the first time ever in 35+ years of riding, for "running" a red light. It was at 10:50 pm at 45th and Broadway in Manhattan, pretty much the heart of Times Square. And as anyone can tell you that's been there, TOURIST HELL. And I didn't so much "run" the light as eek by from a stop when there was an opening in the hoards of people, taxis, livery cabs, pedi cabs, limos, single drivers suv's, etc who, for the most part, NEVER pay attention to the lights.
And it wasn't just any cop, it was super ****** cop (but not "Mega ****** cop" because he didn't ticket me - btw, can I say "******" in here Scrod? Guess the filter will catch it if I can't). I generally have no beef with NYC's Finest. My dad was a prison guard for a while when I was growing up and I managed a dive shop in BK where I met and dove with a lot of nice cops. Generally, cops in NYC are too busy with real crap to bother with nonsense (Philly - that's another story). But this guy - 20 something, covered in acne or little boils or something - had to keep me there for a few minutes to berate me like a drill Sargent. "What do you thing you're doing!" "Going home from work sir. I work right there" "So you're too good to obey traffic signals? You think you don't have to pay attention to red lights?" "No sir - sorry sir" "You don't pay attention to red lights?" "Actually sir, in this part of town, I pay attention to the people and cars because they don't usually pay attention to traffic signals" etc, etc. "Get out of here and go THAT way (the direction I was going in when he stopped me)."
I'm kinda puzzled as to why he bothered - It wasn't like I bombed the light, I was coming from a near dead stop, literally crawling across the street to take advantage of a rare occasion on Broadway when there was NO cars or people in the cross street or in front on me. Maybe he moved here from Philly.

Haha, back in Philly all the bike cops would ride around town together in one big goofy peloton.
Maybe he was made fun of as a kid and is taking out on everyone now.

Tonight Angie's car broke down in the city, got towed about 35 miles home, then the tow truck broke down right when it arrived at our house - leaving the car stranded on the back.
