Today I got up after 4 hours sleep to get my hair cut. Came home, watched the Tour/napped, and slowly got my ass moving to go to day 3 of Pitchfork. Got there quite late, but saw AraabMuzik and some of Beach House (yawn) and The Field. Ended up being a lovely day once the sun went down and I'm glad I motivated to go. Ran into several friends, old and new. The Field was a great, mellow ending to the weekend.

I realized just a few minutes ago that I've ridden my bike downtown 6 out of the last 7 days. 20 miles round trip, so that's 120 miles this week, all fixed. No wonder I'm tired and my knees hurt! Usually I only get that kind of mileage in when I do a long ride on the weekend on my touring bike.

They're common around here, especially in one cove where we always swim because the water is shallow and really warm. I stepped on one a while back but it didn't mess me up too bad. Angie wasn't as lucky.

They're not aggressive by any means but the spines on their tail come out when they're threatened (i.e. stepped on) and aren't poisonous but can really tear up an unsuspecting foot.

Oof. That's no fun. I don't even want to go to the ocean now. If I do, I'll get some sweet crocs or something equally stylish and cool.

I think I am going to put my body through hell tomorrow. Going to be going to the ocean at the end of the week for awhile.

When it comes to weird things living in the water that can **** us up with the greatest of ease, I just try to keep it in perspective that we're in their house and they're just doing what they do.

If a skate or swarm of jellyfish suddenly showed up in my kitchen, I most likely wouldn't be very friendly.

Yummy: ****ing awesome dude. I'm happy/jealous.

Kaz: I heard Beach House sucked today. I also heard that Thee Oh Sees tore it up. I wish I could've gone.

Scrod: That blows man. Hope she's ok.

Everyone: I found a bike today. It is my wife's size, so part of me wants to keep it, but I'm trying to be a good person. If you're in the North Chicago area, please tweet or Facebook this or something.

I found an unlocked bike in front of The Oasis tonight (Sunday night/Monday morning). Email me at bryan.mcclaran@gmail.com if it's yours.

Girl just dropped me home 40 y.o. virgin style. Actually the 7-11 near home, she's new, I forgot to reconnect front and only brake on a FW rig, had toFlinstone it at the last minute. Lived to type this on my Druid.

on the way to work, as i was going through an intersection (had a green light and everything), some tool coming from the crossroad in a giant jacked up pickup looks right at me and smiles while cutting me off to whip half way around the corner. he slams on his brakes to look for 'real' traffic and then goes right on red.

i was able to pull a hard right/left and go around his rear bumper. i expect people to do stupid stuff, but the smile really got me going.

got the plate. if he works at my complex, we'll have a little chat at shift change.

@Scrod - you probably already know this since you live so near the sea, but you're supposed to shuffle your feet when you walk around in the water during stingray season. Basically you just don't pick your feet up. This gives them warning that you're there and they mostly stay out of your way. Of course that technique becomes complicated when there are rocks and not just sand.
Just trying to be helpful. Hope your lady recovers quickly. Get her a bell to ring if she needs you to bring her stuff.

@Misskaz - glad you had fun at Pitchfork despite all the weather complications. How was the beer situation? Goose Island again? Bike parking work out alright?

@Misskaz and Bryan, there's a deeply dope concert for free at Millenium park tonight, at the Pritzker Pavillion. 6:30pm

It's Charles Bradley tonight, and he will make sexy in your ears! Some seriously good soul. Check it out if you can. I get off work at 3pm so I'm not sure of my plans but I think I'll go home first and change then come back down. S'gonna be a HOT one today...

Today I'm excited because...

1. Bought tix for The Hideout Block Party (Wilco, Lee Fields, WarOnDrugs, etc)
2. My new stem arrived on Saturday and I installed it and today's commute was more enjoyable because of it.

Beer was pretty terrible. Heineken (regular + Light + "Dark" and Newcastle). Actually the Heineken Dark wasn't bad; it was my beer of choice throughout the weekend. The bike parking was totally fine, I think part of it was that the rain kept some folks off their bikes but also that they had two lots this year helped. The lot I parked in never got close to full.

I so want to go to Charles Bradley tonight. My work friend is going. I have a programming class I'm taking that is Mondays at 6:30 though. I didn't do the homework this weeks so I am considering skipping it, but because I have to bring my computer to this class I didn't ride my bike today. If I had ridden my bike, I would probably skip class and go to Charles Bradley. It's amazing how much easier it is to get around with a bike!!!

I had tix for Hideout Block Party last year and didn't end up going. This year sounds ok - I like Wilco and Iron & Wine and Wye Oak. But, we'll see. I just spent $100 on Pitchfork and I'm doing Riot Fest in September. This year is becoming Year of the Music Fest for me.

@Kazattack - (don't know why I called you that just now, but I picture you jumping out from behind a fence in a karate stance and yelling "Kazattack!" at an unsuspecting stranger... lol)
Are you serious? I'm so sick of the beer at fests. Leinie's Summer Shandy and Heinie's are the best it gets??? What a crock. We have so many good brewpubs around and none of them can step up and supply good beer for their neighbors/patrons? Piece, Goose Island, Half Acre, Revolution, Metropolitan, Two Bros ... so disappointing that no one will step up. The couple years I went to Pitchfork they had Goose Island (Green Line, Honker's, IPA, 312) and it worked out pretty well.

Bummer about Charles Bradley. I don't know if I'll make it to be honest. After I bike home in 95+ degree heat I won't be itching to do it again right away.

Also, if you have tix for Riot Fest, you shouldn't buy tix for Hideout. They're the same weekend.
