It does in the wintertime. I think -18 degrees fahrenheit was the coldest I cycled last winter. This week its been around 70-75 deg fahrenheit though.

Jesus. Reminds me of Buffalo. As low as the single digits in the Winter (not including windchill usually) and it's been in the 80's and 90's all Summer.

today i'm a little wobbly. leader for our Monday night town ride took us up a road that accesses the top of a local ski hill. about .25mi of 25% grade. made it 3/4 of the way up running 46:16 on the 722ts. i was the only one w/o gears and still made it the farthest. yay, old guy! darn 20-something whippersnappers.

Rule #5, i didn't whine, but we had a heck of a "no face" boxing match outside the pub afterward.

between that, and the normal hill climbs on my commute, i'm like a sailor getting his land legs back....

Today my gatorskin order came from amazon and they packed it in a box the size of a wide filing cabinet literally. Picked it up and knew something was wrong with the weight of the box being unusually heavy even for a pair of wire beads. Opened it up and it was buy one get one free packing error in my favor. Amazon prime is really paying for itself in shipping alone not to mention the freebies.

any bike part short of maybe the highest quality wheelset or frameset is going to be a drop in the well if you're buying a car.
well, if you're buying a reasonably good car.
i would get a zen ring.

flipping the stem so its leveled out gives you some more reach too which seems like what you need
With this latest stem/setup, I have more weight on my wrists/bars than I would prefer. My arms are weak, which is likely the problem. Need to HTFU.

It works, and it's better to have the longer/less-angled stem because it puts the weight over the front hub much more efficiently than the stubby/tall stem
It's also better to have the seat further forward, gives me better leverage/angle to push the pedals down.

In short, this 107deg/90mm stem seems like the "correct approach" but I need to figure out how to be okay with the weight on my wrists/hands/bars. My previous setup was comfortable for me because most of the weight was on the saddle/legs.

I'll ride it this way for a week or two and see how it goes. It does seem more "correct", if that makes sense.

Seat further forward also puts more weight to your arms/hands. You should be able to lift your hands of the bar and maintain your position without too much strain.

When my back is straight up or when my back is hunched/leaning-forward?

When you're at your forwardmost riding position. Lift your hands off the bars while keeping everything else the same. Your core muscles should engage more and you should be able to remain upright and balanced.

No.

You need a higher, longer, less-angled stem. If you just have a longer, flatter stem like you just did that doesn't fix the problem, it just gives you a different one. Saddle to bar drop for someone with your complaints should be level to -7cmish max.

I don't want to monopolize the "Today I" thread with my personal questions. Not fair to others. You mind if I start a different thread or should I just PM you?
