managed to avoid that stalker chick, Sandy, and made to/from work w/o getting rained on.

although the contrast between 30mph headwind and tailwind was readily apparent.

also, the state (my employer) made it very clear that unless i get a call to stay home any absence will be treated as AWOL and i won't get paid for the day.

Today I:

I'm annoyed today because I have received yet another tire sidewall tear. I think this makes 5 tires this year. 2 Paselas, both rear; 2 GP400s, front and rear; and the rear on mtb during the first ride. I guess I'm going ride with a booted tire until I can get home and take the 28s from my SR.

Today isn't all bad though. I got to spend some time helping out a beautiful older Dutch lady. I must go to one of these countries where 6 foot tall women are more common

cruiserhead 10-29-12 02:25 PM

whereabouts are you riding? bad roads?

hairnet 10-29-12 02:29 PM

Today I:

All but one had been while going one way or the other on Venice between Santa Monica and Culver City.

cruiserhead 10-29-12 02:31 PM

bummer. I keep a folded piece of duct tape and ziploc bag just in case I get a sidewall tear

hairnet 10-29-12 02:35 PM

Today I:

I keep a pencil bag with my tools and flat supplies. Thankfully it did not explode before I noticed the tear.

cruiserhead 10-29-12 02:58 PM

so many tears would piss me off! lol
Hopefully you filled your quota for the next few years!
I've used a dollar bill before :) those cotton fibers are decently strong

This has happened to me a minimum of 3 times in my life, I think maybe it's actually 4. The last time was like two weeks ago, hit my right ear and neck. I thought they had something against me as a species after that last time, but my friend said something encouraging. She said it only means I'm outdoors a lot, which is a good thing.

LesterOfPuppets 10-29-12 03:45 PM

I got pissed on by a seagull this summer. Glad it's been years since I've been pooped on.

NateRod 10-29-12 04:07 PM

it's windy. very.

Street rider 10-29-12 04:51 PM

Its really windy here too. Can't be anywhere near as bad, but we're still catching gusts up in the 40's.

That's a good way of looking at it. One of my co-workers tried to be helpful and said "I heard getting poo'd on by a bird is good luck." Not sure how that works, pretty sure good luck would be NOT getting poo'd on. I like the reasoning that I'm just outdoors a bunch. That was the third time ever for me, once as a kid at recess (horrible, all over my head) and once in college.

craigcraigcraig 10-29-12 05:42 PM

Today I am packing up my apt. It has been a good year my friend, see you never.

Mumonkan 10-29-12 06:08 PM

today im watching where the trail ends while 74 mph wind gusts pummel my house and shake it around like im in a paint mixer

Scrodzilla 10-29-12 06:18 PM

Tonight I am exhausted from moving everything around and vacuuming up the constant stream of water coming into the shop. Even though the storm is letting up some, the power went out around 6 and I have no idea when it will be back on. Building wheels by candlelight, FTW.

NateRod 10-29-12 06:32 PM

Damn.

Stay safe, everyone on the NE coast.

That's how they did it in the olden days.

hamfoh 10-29-12 07:07 PM

Today Adam (Stanridge) said he would refund my depost. 8 hours later two Cannondale tracks within an hour drive became available. One in 55 one in 58, I don't see how I'm going to be able to resist both of them

Adrian_ 10-29-12 07:25 PM

Get both flip one.

hamfoh 10-29-12 07:32 PM

4 Attachment(s)
one is complete only it seems. come with old engraved campy cranks though. 165mm. 58cm probably fit me perfect since they have that short TT. rest of the components seem meh and for some reason he painted the fork black. Mavic cxp 30 rims. "Aero" seat post. 3T pista bars.
need someone to confirm this fork though

Here's mine:

jdgesus 10-29-12 07:57 PM

buy them both, dummy

hamfoh 10-29-12 08:06 PM

55 probably too small. Don't think I can talk mr 58 into parting out. anything special about older model campy cranks? rest of the components seem meh

what's the price I should pay per frameset, assuming it goes that way? and considering ill have to repaint one of the forks

There's nothing much special aside from them being campy... they were also prone to hairline cracking in the specific region where the crank meets the spider unless prior to damage filing was done of suspect excess material in that region is done.
Well what is he asking for the entire thing? Does he know what he is selling?

hamfoh 10-29-12 08:13 PM

he didn't know but had a MTB forum tell him or something. he wants $1000 for the entire bike, but I have no use for anything but his frameset :o

xavier853 10-29-12 08:42 PM

I want a C dale track. Dream track bike!

I would snag that over the Stanridge.

I think you're going to most likely buy it as a complete. That is unless you pay him to keep the parts.

solipsist716 10-29-12 09:16 PM

Today I'm thoroughly underwhelmed by this storm, but then again I'm 8 hours inland. Want school off tomorrow, already. Good luck everybody else.

That's good, considering it's already killed people.

Had my long day of work, currently at home eating some curry lentil stew that my wife made before she went for her daily run. Damn, a good woman is hard to find, but I got lucky.

The highlight of my day was probably giving some "thank you" bottles of wine to two of the office staff at my job who bust their asses all day every day. Now I gotta bring some cookies for the rest of the staff.

Aside from the fact that you could sell them on eBay for around 300 bucks with the BB?

How does one instantly go from wanting a custom Stanridge to a 20 year old Cannondale? It seems like you have no idea what you're actually looking for.
