Yeah, I'm lazy like that. I have one wheel with a 12-28. I often limit out that cog so I don't use it when I know I shouldn't be.

I used to do that. It's all mental. I will lock myself out of gears sometimes to make sure I don't get lazy.

A rarity indeed.

This diet seems to be working out. A month in, and I've lost 15 pounds. Good times.

ddeadserious 08-14-12 09:38 AM

What kind of diet are you doing?

alexaschwanden 08-14-12 09:43 AM

Taking a break today because I did over 235 miles this week(new record!).

Today I'm hung over after liberally washing down a sudden, unceremonious firing after 3 days at a job. I've worked in kitchens for years and have never seen a person let go after 3 days (except in cases of theft or violence).

Plus the owner fired me over the phone! If you can't hack it, get one of your sous chefs to say it to my face! The way I've always seen it, you walk into work, someone says, "hey, before you change, we gotta talk," then you take your walk of shame. Maybe things are different out here on the left coast. I dunno.

Silver lining: Moar time for bieks! Just not right now because I feel like my brain's cage fighting with my skull.

yummygooey 08-14-12 10:04 AM

are you the one that just moved to seattle?

Yes. Not sure if this is a culture shock issue or if it's just the way this restaurant does business.

yummygooey 08-14-12 10:25 AM

seattle is weird, been here a couple months myself

will be here for a few more days; let's ride bikes? where you living?

Oh you don't want nothin to do with that! Im strictly running slow-ass solo missions til my legs get used to these hills! Be down for some brews though. Still familiarizing my liver with the amazing beer around here. PM me if you're down for a brew tomorrow (got family coming in for a few days Thursday so I'll be "entertaining" all weekend). I'm in Capitol Hill but I'd go wherever.

Today a customer tipped me with a 12 pack of High Life. I apologize in advance if anyone gets anything weird in their packages.

Low carb, low fat, lots of lean proteins, lots of leaves. Plus, I've doubled my riding. I'm doing 150/wk minimum, and that's just my commute.

Dude, that's bull****. It's stuff like that that made me decide to ditch kitchens. It just isn't worth it anymore.

The Mrs. sees it as a sign that I should be looking for a way out. I'm definitely staying in food, but I'm thinking of going to a couple of spots (butchers, sausage/charcuterie makers, that sort of thing) and saying, "Hey, how'd you like an extra pair of hands free of charge for a coupla days a week?"

Ha, I'll be home for a night before I have to leave for school again. :(

If you ever make it down to Chambana...

Or winter break when the weather is at its best!

jimmytango 08-14-12 01:19 PM

Jesus... I do need to get down there. You heard Carmon's is closing, right? Josh, the chef there, is starting a pop-up dinners thing.
