Almost lost mine today too. Set my bag down to put my lock in it, and totally didn't realize that when I picked it up to put it on my shoulders, it pulled it straight out of my pocket. I took off and got on the road, started sprinting up to speed, and it was stuck on part of my shoulder strap. So lucky.

What are your guys' edc's?

I have an expensive Benchmade, but I find that I prefer the SOG in pretty much every way.

Mines a S&W Extreme Ops folder. Cheap, sorta pos. But I love it. I have a couple small Meyerco Necklances, fixed, that I might carry as backups/in my boots.

Nagrom_ 09-19-12 04:43 PM

I own a benchmade butterfly, but can't carry it in CA.

Carry a CRKT M16. Great little knives.

Also carry a CRKT Gruppie, great little tool.

I wish it wasn't looked down upon to carry something a little bigger on the belt. I have a Cold Steel Tanto Lite to use hiking/camping/backpacking. Great knife for like no money.

the one i lost was a cheapo benchmade lockback that i got from wallyworld when i was like 13
it wasnt good steel or a particularly good knife, but it had sentimental value and i kept it sharper than the stupid orange plastic boxcutters they get at work

soon ill be getting one of these gems

I finally got an email from the guy with the super deal on a beatnik on CL. He sold it the first day it was up, and it took him another five days to finally email me to say it was gone.

jimmytango 09-19-12 07:25 PM

Repacked headset, new brake pads, trued rear wheel, happy bike. I got a line on a 2011 Giant Bowery '84 in the wife's size for dirt cheap. Just needs a rear wheel *cough Scrod cough*.

CJWIZVRDGVNG 09-19-12 07:33 PM

Today I wanted to go create a pedalroom account and found that someone took my username. :(

i'm usually more of a Spyderco fan, but the Benchmade Mini Griptillian is awesome for edc:

today i needed a headlight. got stuck at work really late. around town a blinky is fine at night, but out on a county road w/o streetlights, not so much. super creepy. with only about 12' visibility and no cars around i was convinced i was going to roll up fast on some animal or zombie or some such. buddy at the local shop said he'd slide me a Cygolite Metro 300 for $30 when i come in to pick up fenders for the winter commuter.

ThermionicScott 09-19-12 08:19 PM

Today I finally bought a chainring nut wrench and centered my chainring. Why did I wait so long??

i think spyderco has a lot of great designs, but the axis lock on benchmades is just the best
i wanted to get the pramilitary 2, but liner lock, meh.

jdgesus 09-19-12 08:35 PM

Yuck. You can probably equate their high end to benchmade low end.

Dannihilator 09-19-12 08:59 PM

Today I got my stem and my first look at a Thomson handlebar.

CRKT's autoLAWKS is a fantastic mechanism.

i consider pretty much any modern lock design equally useful / untrustworthy. it's either fixed or it's not. always have an ESEE Izula (also pink :) ) in the messenger bag with a multitool. but, just my quirk and i won't get hassled for a fixed blade around here.

Yea it is! basically turns a folder into a fixed blade. My dad won one of the nicer 16's as a door prize a few years ago at the state IDPA match. Great knife.

I thought you guys were talking about knives.

I want/will soon get a Spyderco.
