Twice?? Geez, may you have a long flatless streak after that.

Wednesdays are my hardest work days, along with Mondays. Leave home at 8:15AM, get home at 8:20PM.

I'm about to finish planning a lesson for tomorrow's class, prep for the bike commute tomorrow and knock out.

Nagrom_ 10-17-12 10:23 PM

What do you teach?

IthaDan 10-17-12 10:36 PM

Today I bought a nearly new set of neuvation r28 sl2 wheels with conti tires and a dirty but flawless ultegra cassette for $50.

ESL at two different colleges in the L.A. area.

Proud to say I am the only teacher at one of them that bikes to work at all.

Nagrom_ 10-17-12 10:44 PM

That's pretty cool, man.

whoops forgot to refresh. busy listening to here comes the kraken.

TMonk 10-18-12 12:21 PM

today i 2.5 hrs on the fixed, 41/15t, nice high and steady z2 pace.

legs r kinda jacked. looking forward to a big weekend on the bike and then a rest week next week. will flip my beers/week and bike hrs/week ratios as per usual.

also i did half the ride before the damn sun was even up. that should earn me some HTFU points.

TMonk 10-18-12 12:25 PM

also some fat roadie in a BMC kit had some serious RDS (random-drafting syndrome) on me for like 3 miles...
I really wanted to dial it up and just dust the ****er but I kept it under control and stayed in my HR zone, doubt he could hold that pace for 2.5 hrs...

I could hear him right on my ass the whole time until a stop light where he turned off, super annoying.

All you have to do is ask! I do it sometimes. "It cool if I join you guys?" "Can I camp your wheel for a little bit?"
Ill almost always say yeah man, no problem.

I purposefully don't point out **** on the road/potholes and swerve right around them when ppls dont ask.

Nagrom_ 10-18-12 12:27 PM

Gonna dust him on 41/25? 26mph at 200rpm.

Watch out.

prooftheory 10-18-12 12:28 PM

Why does that annoy you? I agree I wouldn't feel compelled to point stuff out but it isn't like they are stealing something. Or do you view it as a safety hazard?

Scrodzilla 10-18-12 12:28 PM

Today I sold a Big Block complete to a 68 year old guy who wanted to "get back into riding fixed gear after taking a long time off", swapped the bars and saddle out for Nitto Noodles and a Brooks Team Pro and went out for a quick 10 mile ride with him. So awesome.

Watch out.

ur making assumptions about the terrain and weather conditions here

sometimes going 15mph takes ALOT of power

edit: also u were in b4 i corrected typo. 42/15t

TMonk 10-18-12 12:33 PM

I found my solution! Tacks!
Ill carry a small plastic box filled w tacks!

LAY DOWN THE TACKS!

not rly sure why it bugs me so much. i think it is a courtesy thing and a safety/proximity thing. i like to know when sum1 is right on my ass, sumtimes its fun to swerve around objects and hazards in the road for fun, esp on the fixed.

again if u ask ill probs say yeah sure

It annoys me a bit too, just like when someone is driving too close to the back of my car on the highway.

Yes very cool. Sounds like a great little package deal too.

FTFY :)

Singlespeed92 10-18-12 01:44 PM

Yesterday and today I:

Cleaned and better organised my workshop a bit, lubed and maintained my dusty go-to bike (which I haven't gone-to for a couple months,LOL),my CX'er/all-arounder,and swapped off it's half worn 35mm tires to some 38mm's I had lying around. Not quite a "monster crosser",but closer :p

xavier853 10-18-12 01:48 PM

Today, it rained for all of about 25 minutes. Like SUPER downpour hurricane style. That also happened at the exact time that I had to start my commute. Bad week of commuting for me. And I wasn't smart enough to leave early or look at weather

Nah, it's damn near impossible to get a job there, even PT I think. My mentor during my Master's program is an excellent teacher and he's been trying to get his foot in the door there for a while now.

I did however, attend SMC to transfer as an undergrad, and that's where I met my wife.

I got caught once. Came out of the rail station to ride and it was pouring. NEVER gonna risk that again. The ride wasn't that bad, but the maintenance issues SUCK.

About the ass-drafting, I would be bothered just because I think it's a little sad that someone has to use you as a human shield to ease their ride. One of the best things about cycling is the sense of freedom I get when riding. I ain't trying to rely on someone or hope I can "catch a ride" by riding right on their ass.
