sold the wheels that came on the kilo. rerouted some of the proceeds to LBS for 72 spokes (hub from scrodizzle came in yesterday).

tensioning done. enjoying brew.

Today I didn't touch my bike. I did 24 holes of disc golf in Indiana on the course that the 2010/2013 Pro Disc Golf World Championships were/will be held. Now I'm drinking some limited stuff from Three Floyds (stopped there on the way home), making a D&D character, and getting ready to pack a few bottles for a beer trade with a friend in Dallas.

Tomorrow I will be beginning the refinishing process on a piece of furniture I recently acquired. Gonna he a good couple days off.

Went on a 25 mile ride with a good group of guys and a new kid that just moved from Cali. half way through the ride he realized he was binding the **** out of the omnoms he put on his 721. As soon as he would tighten the crank bolt it would bind up against the bottom bracket. Couldnt he just add a spacer between the bb and crankarm? I checked the bearings and they seemed pretty beat up already (felt gritty when I rotated it) but if he doesnt tighten the arm enough its just gonna come loose.

he was kinda giving up on them and wanted square taper again. :commute:

Today I put on my new Fizik Arione and worked with the fore/aft of my saddle since I have been getting quad/knee pain on my previous long rides. What a difference 15mm makes.

It's mine. Literally in my top 3 favorite bikes, and I don't know the other two.

They're both on sale too. Free shipping as well. Just buy one. Buy them both. Buy 4, geared and SS in both color schemes.
SS:http://www.competitivecyclist.com/fr...ut--10923.html ($891.65)
Geared: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/fr...oi--10924.html ($1274.15)

i really like those civilian cx bikes myself & came very close to getting a geared version when they had it on sale for even a bit less back in the summer but the paint schemes bother me so the urge passed

but its not exactly the most high end, pompino, a23/novas, wing pros/s500s, avid shorty ultimates, thomson bits, eggbeaters, white industries trial fw

still undecided on a fork and cranks though, and 1600 was a rough guestimate

if you want a pompino you should at least consider snatching up a frame now - on one has them on sale for 1/2 price...

hamfoh 10-17-12 07:58 AM

Today I'm looking for a good lever/hood + brake setup for my big block. going to ATX for 4 days at the beginning of November and brakeless there isn't going to cut it for me, I like living too much. Plus I'm going to ride the ms150 on this baby so I'll consider it a future investment towards that

striknein 10-17-12 08:26 AM

SRAM S500 or Cane Creek SCR-5. Everything else sucks right meow.

hamfoh 10-17-12 08:42 AM

could those SRAMs really be worth 2x the price? any caliper recs?

Crandrew 10-17-12 09:05 AM

Well i had been missing out on my yearly trip up to the city, so i contacted a sqrl i know up there and I booked the trip. Yay!

I wonder if i'll see the mash crowd pulling mad skidz on their way down to Philz for a cup of coffee and a splif.

I liked the cheap Tektro hoods I got from TreeFort, I don't remember the model number. Just grab some Apex or Rival calipers, they're cheap and good and they look nice.

thinking cane creek scr-5's to sram apex calipers (ddead let me know which hoods yours are if you find out)

anyone see a reason I shouldn't do this?

edit: already want to splurge for the sram

mine MW vandal has broken 3 times in four places (buckles/zippers)

granted, its got over 10k miles on it, and they fix it for free, forever (or until they go out of business)

the s500s should feel just like your force levers, so there's that. splurging on contact points is worth it

hamfoh 10-17-12 11:57 AM

what do those miles entail that would have buckles and zippers breaking

picking up lots of beers?

anyway, lol, that's what i was gonna say...how can miles be put on a bag? I would think it would be more of a function of how much the zippers are used.

I mean ****, I have a mouintainsmith backpack that i have used for 8 years constantly and the zippers have never broken, and I've put that bag through hell. Don't know how many miles i walked or rode with it though.

yeah, you are hard on gear in general. that's why shoeface should give you all the gear for testing.
