More or less. It costs a lot more to design, write, and test software than most users realize.

I realize how much it costs, programmer here. My point being, once its been produced, there's an infinite supply of it.

It's almost like when people say paying more than $200 for a bicycle is just stupid. people need to be paid.

I just bought tickets to go see Braid playing Frame And Canvas at The Metro. The show will be amazing.

I think I'm gonna go to the track tomorrow. First time back since the broken foot. I think I'm back to where I was, if not stronger.

It's the same thing with design software. It's a toolbox, full of important tools.

If you're not a professional(or going to be, or a student), then you probably don't need professional level tools and can just use GIMP for free.

$500 every 18 months, more like.

Adobe's $30/mo plan makes sense if you use 3 or more proggies.

Our bookstore has PS CS5.5 for $129

the free universal construction kit? oh man that looks cool. if that's all a 3d printer could be used for it'd still be sooo worth it.

TMonk 09-28-12 06:16 PM

The Free Universal Construction Kit offers adapters between Lego, Duplo, Fischertechnik, Gears! Gears! Gears!, K’Nex, Krinkles (Bristle Blocks), Lincoln Logs, Tinkertoys, Zome, and Zoob. Our adapters can be downloaded from Thingiverse.com and other sharing sites as a set of 3D models in .STL format, suitable for reproduction by personal manufacturing devices like the Makerbot (an inexpensive, open-source 3D printer).

Today I am computer illiterate. :( I can't figure out how to run Sim Tower even though there seems to be lots of info on how to do it, even with Windows 7. sigh

striknein 09-28-12 08:00 PM

Spent some quality time tearing apart a road bike. I really, really needed it.

seau grateau 09-28-12 08:24 PM

Woke up ay 745. Still managed to pack my work clothes, get dressed, buy cigarettes, ride 14 miles in mild headwinds, and still be at work by nine. Hustle hustle.

misskaz 09-29-12 01:22 PM

Today I embraced fall and removed the A/C units from the windows. Those *****es are heavy. Two minor injuries, not counting how sore my back is gonna be tomorrow.

Celebrating the completion of that chore with homemade chicken soup (I've been sick all week) and a Malört&Radler (I'm feeling better today). :)

hamfoh 09-29-12 03:03 PM

today I can get 7710 crankset/bb with a DA chainring for $350, or can get a new set of arms for $280. crankset is out of state so I can't examine them beforehand. wondering if it's worth the peace of mind to pay a lil' more
