Had a giant Halloween party at my apartment last night. No police. Nobody got into a fight. Nothing got stolen. And nothing got broken. Someone even made me gluten free pumpkin cupcakes. It was a good night!

And yet I wake up at 9AM anyway.

Last night I rode in Halloween Critical Mass. It was fun. BUT the after-party/fundraiser got shut down by the cops for not having a liquor permit before we even got there. Hundreds of bike people arriving only to find out there was nothing going on, when many of them had bought tickets in advance... let's just say it's a testament to how cool bike kids are that **** didn't get ugly. Also I got busted taking my first sip out of my flask and a cop poured the whole thing out. Then when I mentioned it was Malort, he said "aw you should have told me that, i would have let you keep it!"

So when we learned the party was off I decided to head home, and was riding down the street alone when I ran into my friend (also in costume, she was at CM too) and a couple of her friends heading into Big Star. So we got a table, drank margaritas and ate tacos. Oh, and met a TV actor (I had to look this up) Jared Padalecki from various WB/CW tv shows. He came up to us, four people dressed in costume at the end of October, and asked "what's the occasion?" We kind of gave him a durrrr look and said "Uh, Halloween?"

It took us a bit to figure out who he was since none of us watch much in the way of TV but we did get it eventually. We asked him for a picture because we thought it would be funny with us in costume, but his bodyguard said no. Then he winked at me (HA!) and then they went across the street and skipped the line for a swanky cocktail bar (Violet Hour).

Interesting night. Tonight, two more Halloween parties. I'm really getting good mileage out of my costume.

Can you imagine living your life this way, especially when people have to Google you to know who you are?

Sounds like you had a good night, Kaz!

Last night was cool/weird. I went to see a play starring Jeff Goldbloom. It was good :) Then my girlfriend and I went to a korean bath house, which I was dreading. It turned out to be really nice and relaxing. I guess hanging out nude in a bath with a bunch of nude Korean guys ages 5-60 is cool too. I was one of hairiest guys there and I'm not that hairy.

used up the leftover mushroom risotto to make crispy fried-panko breaded-fritters. served w/ a drizzle of Sriracha.

now to get in a casual ride before is starts raining (along w/ "gale force winds") for the foreseeable future.

Went on a 30mi ride with the Twin Cities Bike Club for their annual Halloween ride, finished in 1hr 48min with a 16.4mph avs. This has got to be the most challenging ride I've done so far, lots of hills with a long and steep killer hill. I'm just glad I didn't have to do the walk of shame up that hill lol.

Mumonkan 10-27-12 02:06 PM

went to work for 4 hrs
got a new seatpost bolt for free from lbs (yay rapport with lbs guys!)
got 2 water bottles
came home
new wheels arrived courtesy of scrod
**** pants
put tires on wheels (first time mounting folding bead tires, weird)
rode them 22 hard miles
posted here about it
now post ride food & shower
then burrito bar for GFs bday

Last night I worked security at a local bar that is closing. Just pretended I was Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse. Got $100 and two beers for river hours of work. Not bad.

I wish I could've made CM last night. I have a rad costume, too. We met a year ago today at CM. What a strange year it's been.

Velo Swap hosted by Swrve today. Cadence stuff was there, and that frame builder couple with the dude that has the piston tats on his calves. Pretty chill. Was hoping to trade a little, but no go.

They had some ridiculous mark downs on swrve stuff, got me a pair of cycling knickers for like $20. I thought the stuff on their rack was at retail, so I didn't really bother looking at first. But when I checked some tags the prices were too hard to resist. The next one needs one thing: beer.

cruiserhead 10-27-12 05:27 PM

man, I totally missed the VeloSwap! Actually, never heard of it but will keep an eye out for the next one. I wanted to buy some Swrve gear at VeloLove too!

Today I:

I went the swap meet and bought some cool stuff and tried to sell some stuff. I did get two pairs of SWRVE pants for $9.

Some crap to display on my shelf

Ha, maybe. If anybody is curious, the crank is cut like that to show off Shimano's hollow forging and make it unrideable because it is just for show

Leukybear 10-27-12 09:09 PM

Today I threaded a pair of scrod's V.track straps through mks sylvans after having received them in an order a friend had sent to my place to complete his build. It was a total ***** to do even with needle nose pliers. Midway I thought why didn't scrod do this for me before shipping them and then I remembered he'd probably go insane if put to the task of threading an entire combo batch. :p
On another note, SCROD, was this set of V.track straps & sylvans the last pair you had?

At first sight I thought modern drillium. But then I remembered it's a 7800 crank.

Dannihilator 10-27-12 09:45 PM

Today I got a little bit of ride time in and then got prepared for this storm coming up and had the power steering pump fail on the way home.

What time? I was there from about 12:30-2:30. Ate some food, scoped everything out, bought a few goods and bounced. I think I would have noticed our SSFG friendly giant.
