Today, I picked up a nail in my tire that went through both sides of the tube and through the Velox tape and punched through the inner wall of my rim! I hate work zones.

Yesterday I went on a 50 mile fundraiser ride and was the only person on a fixed gear. Not even another single speed. Most everybody else doing it had high end carbon road bikes and were retro freds. All nice people though. It was a great ride through the country and along the river though there was one hill that was killer. Almost 20 percent grade for about a quarter mile. The worst part was that it would flatten out for a few meters tricking you into thinking you were done. But no. It was a good ride and i kept up with the lead group and ended up finishing in just over 2 hours 45.

Carbon retro freds? did you see a lot of these?

I had a Roubaix like that a while back. Hilarity.

caught "Skyfall". perfect Bond movie. redeemed the franchise after the farcical Quantum of Solace.
gearing up for the ride to two hours of sweaty fencing practice. 31F. remembering dry socks for the ride home this time. |

Today I found these while stopped at a red light.
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/5539/photo2itp.jpg Seeing that it's by slime I presume they're lacktastic but I found it pretty funny that they were "made in the USA" but "assembled in China" considering the packaging isn't complicated at all. |
Today I put in a leisurely 25 miles.
|
Put the Dura-Ace pedals from my CF road bike on my FG commuter to see whether it's worth getting another pair of SPD-SL pedals to leave on it more often; it is. Found some barely used 105's for $40 on CL, picking em up tomorrow.

Not today, but last night, I was in a collision with a vehicle. Long story short, I was going northbound on a street and a vehicle coming south bound makes a left turn hitting me (or I hit her, I don't remember). I think I flew over the hood. My Right shoulder suffered ac joint separation, neck, back, legs, etc are sore. Some bruising. I have to see a orthopedic specialist to determine what needs to be done, possibly surgery. I hope the ladies insurance covers the expenses. Front wheel cracked in half, I think my body suffered more than the bike.
|
ouch. glad you're ok. speedy recovery!
|
^ wow man! Take care.
As for me, day 12 of 58 in the Philippines. Have not ridden a bike since getting here, nor would I want to be riding some janky ass rental anyways. Gonna go watch the movie "Chernobyl Diaries" in a bit. Premium Rush hasn't been released here yet so I'm seeing posters everywhere about it. I may just watch it to get by. |
Speedy recovery.
Not today, but yesterday I nearly got left hooked by someone pulling out of a parallel parking spot, the dingbat didn't even look to see if it was clear to pull out. |
Thanks. The thing that sucks the most is not being able to ride, for a yet undetermined time. But I'll let my body heal, I won't risk a re injury just so I can ride a couple weeks earlier. That and taking long to dress, it took me ten mins to put on jeans and tie my shoes haha

It was the dumbest thing ever. I was putting a bunch of cardboard and paper into the huge recycling bin at the shop and when I pushed down on it to compact it, my thumb popped out of place and I said a lot of bad words.
I managed to pop it back in but ended up going to the clinic to have it checked out after work and there's some ligament trauma and I need to wear a brace on my hand. Building wheels this week is going to be awesome. |
