Today I am packing for my trip to LA. If I make top 30 in the Marathon Crash Race I'll be a happy camper.
|
Time to go Google IT band...
Also, I've had two cigarettes today. Attempt #2 to quit is underway. |
Good luck, dude. Seriously. Quit that ****.

The cleat and saddle position is the most valuable thing you can glean from a bike fitting, be it retul, specialized bg, or something else...
You can move your bars back towards their original position over time. I've had a few fits in my day (discounts in college for collegiate racers), and they all put me in a wayyy upright position. I increased the length of my stem and drop very slowly over about 6 months, with atleast 1 month increments between any change. Also im not sure how aware you are of the diagnosis of your injury (overuse injuries are tough to diagnose), but FWIW I have quadriceps tendinitis, and have for about 4 years. I came home from college one winter and tried to do a 18/20/22 hour/week three week block while lifting and working on my feet during the day and not recovering, plus no stretching. Your problems will likely never completely go away, but like mine, they will be under control if you rest as much as you can stand now and be diligent about stretching and PT. Don't jump into riding and training too quickly and cause yourself a more serious chronic issue. |

I used to have IT probs from too high saddle when I was a twenty-something. Totally gone after I got smart about saddle height, even now in my golden years.

Yeah, after the fitment, I was surprised at how much I overshot the seat height. |
Just wanted to add, when I built up my Marin a couple of months ago I lackadaisically set the saddle height and went for a 40 mile too-high-saddle ride and IT band was burning up all night after that. Took a couple of 10 mile easy days to get over that but all is good after that bout of stupidity. Did 50 hard miles yesterday and all is good.

Had my bi-weekly checkup with the doctor...

I'll put some pics up when the new bars come in.
My stems are flipped up now though... negative cool points. |
Stay positive bro

Today I learned that "dogs wearing sunglasses" is the best possible string of words you can enter into Google.
|
Today I dug and rode on the dirt.
|
Today I worked, then I rode to the sandwich shop, and bought a sandwich, which I then ate, then worked some more.
|
New front tire. Yay. Then, I went to a beer event wherein Ommegang released Iron Throne, which is their first Game of Thrones beer. I also got some Zombie Dust and a couple of other rare Chicago beers. Good times.

Today I bought a new rear light (Knog Blinder) since my last one decided to hop off and smash into the ground two nights ago, two sets of rim tape for my rims, Sea foam green leader fork and tomorrow I'll be purchasing my omnium crankset to get her rideable. Good day.

Rode in the San Jose bike ride today on my road bike. Felt completely over-equipped for going just 12mph. I rode with a friend who owned a 10 year old Trek carbon road bike with Ultegra. He wanted to trade bikes so we did for a few miles. I think he was in love with my Bianchi even with the Sora groupset; I had to ask for it back because he didn't even try to switch back. I like my bike better too (cosmetically), but I've got to admit that his bike shifted and rode so smooth.
