Where is that?

Santa Ana riverbed.
Here's the youtube: |
Last night I did some party hopping, and miraculously didn't run in to my ex, who decided to come to town for the weekend. It was funny to see a lot of people who we're both friends with, and that they all said the same things about her. Not on a positive note, either. And some guy at one party gave me two bottles of stout. One was from Wisconsin, and it seriously tasted like I was drinking a cold glass of coffee. It was amazing.
Today I wanted to head to a bar here thats holding beerfest, with 100 different craft beers. And only because myself and one friend are the 'beer guys' of our group, and we just try lots of quality beers. |
Tonight im going to medieval times for the first time ever for a friends birthday, pretty amped
wearing some chainmail jewelry i made a couple years ago for the occasion and its got me thinking why i ever stopped might have to order some rings tonight and get back into it |
Today I realized I currently have no working SS or FG bikes.

Just a temporary shortage of parts.

Today I got hit by large pickup truck, while road riding. Truck blew past a stop sign hit me on the right side and all of sudden I'm laying on the pavement and my bike's far from me. Did not get seriously hurt, just a broken nose, twisted ankle and some road rash on my left elbow. Could've been fatal considering the size of the truck.
My Big Block's totaled from what I could tell. I'll get the bike back Monday and see the damage, the frame is bent beyond repair at the rear stay. And I later figured out that while I was being taken to the hospital the police simply let the driver move along. I'm going back monday to get my bike and figure out what happened after I left, calling the PD was useless. There's been 2 very serious accidents in Brazil last week, threes been many others before and it seems like no one cares. |
****ing people man, why?
least youre not horribly broken, bikes can be replaced but we cannot |
Today my Trek is once again road-worthy, although the stem's clamp bolt is seized and I'm not too happy with the position of the hoods right now.
Either way, super stoked. |

Glad you're ok.
Today I had a snow filled 50 miles. |

Today I pushed myself to bike much farther than I ever thought I could (still a short ride by the this place's standards).
|
Today the PCH was all cool and overcast. Perfect day for a solo century :)

I rode 68 miles at a snail's pace for an out of shape friend. 68 miles at 17.9mph.

Today I:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8...23fe338f3c.jpg Cinelli kaleidoscope bar tape by miss_kaz, on Flickr Also worked on getting my old hybrid ready to sell. It's in decent shape now, but I'm at a crossroads: the rear derailleur is not working all that well, and the only way to really fix it is to replace the cable and barrel adjuster (the cable is rusty and the barrel adjuster in particular is rusted stuck). The question is whether it's worth the money, time, and hassle. It'll be the first time I've ever replaced derailleur cables - a good learning experience, sure, but maybe not necessary right now... I'll be selling it on craigslist and given it's a hybrid with a step-through frame, probably to a casual cyclist. Will I make the money back if I buy new cable+housing ($30) and a new barrel adjuster ($5-10)? As it stands it shifts ok, just some of them are a little picky and it doesn't want to go to the smallest cog of the 8-speed cassette. The front derailleur is in good enough shape that I think I can adjust it without replacing anything, though I haven't tried. I just put a brand new chain on it because the old one was completely destroyed. I must say, between my fancy Lezyne floor pump with the screw-on chuck and my new Kool Stop bead jack, replacing the tires (I had old studded tires on it for winter riding) was positively civilized. |
That tape is some good stuff. Very stylish while being comfortable as well with a good amount of grippiness. :thumb:
Today I rode bike with the group (as usual on Saturdays) and came home to some new parts in the mail and a mail - in rebate that took 3 months. Free money! :D |

Last year we would do 70 mile tempo rides at over 21mph average. This year he was struggling to hold my wheel at a brisk pace. |
sold off my old beach cruiser, a Jamis Sputnik frame, and an '80 Raleigh Gran Sport someone gave me that was too big.
bought the Nashbar "Famous Maker with 105" road bike. been wanting a basic roadie for about a year and everything just came together now. caught up with old friends and was able to help them through some personal drama. |
Made [part of] another thing:

Little scary to think about a fork failure 5 feet up. |
Next time keep the fork on the top bike, cut the fork blades off at the crown, and weld a piece of steel to the bottom of the steerer tube in order to link top and bottom steerer tubes. I did the same thing as you on my tall bike a while back and not having a headset on the top bike made the steering and handling really terrible. Also, I bet putting the smaller wheel and effectively steepening the head tube angle makes it handle poorly. Otherwise, looks like fun.
|
There is a headset on the top bike. Top cup of top bike, bottom cup of bottom bike. Would be nice to have two full headsets.
The small wheel is an electric motor. Again, not my idea. |
Today I rode.... Two miles to the bar... Two miles home.
|
Today I got the Eimei.

Today I finally got my Shogun on the road with no mechanical issues, and bro'd down with Jandro for a bit. |
today i finally experienced medieval times, i enjoyed the **** out of it.
why cant jousting and melee weapon fighting be the national sport and not football? it would actually be a lot easier to watch and get into than a bunch of spandexed dudes jumping on each other so they can touch balls. |

At least in cycling the spandexed dudes are trying to avoid jumping on each other and touching balls.
