Woke up in Portland today... drove through sleet and snow and rain and would honestly prefer snow covered roads and mountain passes to having to deal rush hour in Seattle (or Portland) any day.

That I5 is a really impressive parking lot.

misskaz 12-20-12 12:29 PM

Today I will go shopping for pierogi ingredients and kielbasa for Friendsmas dinner.

And then I'll come back home and nap because damn i was out too late and am tired and hungover. It wasn't even really worth it, karaoke place was a **** show (I hate the holidays).

I'm sure gazelles are good for stuff too - until you show one to a lion.

If you have a Gazelle infestation in your house can be problematic... all that pronking can cause a lot of damage.

Sounds delicious... I brought Juniper sausage and sauerkraut with me that is made by my local Polish deli.

No pierogi here as my wife cannot eat gluten.

My grandma's recipes are two varieties: cheese (farmers cheese+onion) and sauerkraut+mushroom. As a kid I always liked the cheese best but as an adult the sauerkraut has really grown on me. Both are amazing.

Today I'm just lazing around the house. Three mugs of tea later, boondock saints is almost over. Then I figure I'll watch the second one, all the while wishing I was out on the bike. Stupid rain.

They are all amazing... sauerkraut is one of my favourite foods and is incredibly healthful and even more so when it is raw.

Fried pierogis are amazingly good...

Yes they are. They will be missed this year.

I agree with all of these statements.

Today I found out that one of my favorite bands needs a new drummer. I contacted the lead singer and sent links to an old band, and they want a video of me playing a few of their songs. Fingers crossed.

The final haul, and made it home before the rain turns to sleet and then snow.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8212/8...0e7262f626.jpg
The haul: by miss_kaz, on Flickr

3.7lbs fresh kielbasa, 1.7lbs wiejska (smoked) kielbasa, 3lbs farmers cheese, 2qts kapusta (sauerkraut), 750ml zubrówka (bison grass vodka), 1 jar extra hot horseradish and some mushroom bouillon.

I'm super excited to try the zubrowka; I've never had it before. Might even open it today to give a taste.

BigglyPuff 12-20-12 04:06 PM

Sobieski? I love me some Sobieski. I read about it on some vodka blog, great stuff for a low price. Also a fan of Tito's.

Good luck, Bryan.

Scrodzilla 12-20-12 06:05 PM

Do you sit on the floor to use the workbench?

hairnet 12-20-12 06:07 PM

Leukybear 12-20-12 07:48 PM

Looks great hairnet! It's getting there that's for sure.

Dannihilator 12-20-12 07:49 PM

Looks great.

Today I had a good 30 miles on the 930 and am now trying to figure out how to attach a sail to the 930 for tomorrow...

Mumonkan 12-20-12 09:05 PM

Muffin Man 12-20-12 09:07 PM

Its 54 degrees right now. I wouldn't call that warm. But I'm a weather wimp, so who knows.

It's not even winter yet, give it a few hours....

Adrian_ 12-20-12 09:12 PM

I'd go to the beach in 54 degree weather.

Mumonkan 12-20-12 09:33 PM

dont get me wrong, i dont think its particularly cold out, nor am i one who shies away from some cold weather

but its just not fun. i wanna be dripping with sweat in the warm sunshine hammering out some miles getting a tan

this whole "everything is dead and nothing fun (i.e. snow) is happening" is getting old, so called "winter" in nyc is boring now

20 years ago i was making igloos and ice caves in front of my house cuz we had 5 feet of snow, this just makes me sad

SS_Giant 12-20-12 09:39 PM

watching paranorman crying while my soon to be beater bike is outside getting sleeted/snowed on... it doesnt deserve it regardless of its financial worth... :(

I feel your pain. Today was sunny, but it was windy and barely reached 60 degrees.

Winter sucks, even when you live in Arizona

54° is about my shorts wearing threshold.

BoSoxYacht, I have a feeling I'll only have access to a MTB while in PHX. If your down to ride trail I might have two, will know when I get there Sun.

It has just started to be like this every day and it has been "raining" a bunch too. Two nights ago the wind was pretty bad and it felt like my apartment was going to collapse. My clothing has changed much, I just make sure to take some kind of hoodie or jacket with me, riding gloves, and maybe wool socks. I think I can justify wearing my wool jersey now.
