Today I won the internet because my dog made it on cute overload.

jimmytango 11-16-12 12:26 PM

I saw that. Give Blinkers a congratulatory hug for me.

thanks :)

these are actually the negatives,
collidion is made by combining several toxic chemicals in a small dark room
then pouring said mixture onto a glass plate with a tiny red light on
then dipping it into even more toxic chemicals
putting it into a giant camera and taking a picture
then developing it before the chemicals dry (<3 mins)
then mixing slightly less dangerous but more fun chemicals (read: grain alchohol)
and pouring the varnish on the plate and letting it dry

if you put the plate on a black background like i did, its called an ambrotype (you could use black glass if you didnt intend on printing them)
but from these you can make prints that are practically infinitely enlargeable since there is basicaly no film grain

/edit: heres a vid thats kindof long but it shows the general process and he uses a monstrous camera to make really awesome plates

plus it has long way to the top as the song, cant really go wrong with that

Today I am sick and staying in at home, resting up.

I was looking through my parts bin and realized I had two pairs of matching straps so, bored out of my mind, I went ahead and put together some ghetto doubles.

Gonna try 'em out next time I ride, when I'm feeling better. In case I die, adios amigos.

+1

Need them in my life.

NateRod 11-16-12 02:50 PM

thanks. Got them like a year and a half ago from some dude on ebay. He had a bunch. I think they were like 6 bucks a pair, which is why I got two.

Had my first truly rainy commute of the winter this morning. Verdict: mud guard attached to downtube is basically useless, still got sprayed in the face and arms from the front tire like crazy. Time for real fenders.

today I seriously considered buying a 1977ish Raleigh grand prix. the size, 65 cm, would be much more comfortable and it appears to be in great shape, plus it has a sweet vintage brooks

Dannihilator 11-16-12 06:57 PM

Today I went to 33x16 on the dmr and discovered that it allowed the wheel to be slammed and had perfect chain tension. Also did some dirt jumping, all in all really good day.

NateRod 11-16-12 07:00 PM

Weighed myself for the "fat guys" thread. Liked what I saw. Things moving in the right direction.

Weighed the bike while I was at it. Not too shabby either.

hairnet 11-16-12 09:02 PM

I did it.

Today I went out with the sqrl to see wreck it ralph. Had my wallet reamed at the concession stand because I was chaperoning a bunch of sqrl friends of hers but that aside, the movie was pretty good, disney delivers.

Climbed a Cat3 pedestrian bridge yesterday, twice. Reinjured my calf. And my Chinese headlight may already be broken.

FFFFUUUUU.

hairnet 11-17-12 09:29 AM

it's ok, I had to warranty my real Magicshine after just a few days.

cruiserhead 11-17-12 09:50 AM

Thanks Mumonkan, those are amazing.

^pretty.

went looking for anti-fog treatment for my riding glasses and cheap goggles, being balaclava season. tried three bike shops, two sports stores and two drug stores. nothing. the bike/sports places answer? "anything worth wearing has a factory coating".

NateRod 11-17-12 12:22 PM

ghetto doubles did not quite work out as well as I hoped. Wah wah.

Try a scuba shop. They sell anti-fog for masks that works great.

Get the gel kind, not the spray on stuff. Works much better. My personal favorite is Sea Gold.
