Today I went out for a ride, left my house in such a hurry I forgot my gloves. Sucks because I was feeling invincible on the bike. Only got about 16 miles in before I couldn't feel my hands.

Santaria 11-23-12 07:36 PM

Still haven't found a way to respond to my son's 5th grade teacher who requested that I stop telling my son that verbs ending with "ing" are called gerunds because they're not.

I'm 1/2 tempted to take my newly minted BA in English and go give her paper cuts until she absorbs some of the education.

Mumonkan 11-23-12 08:20 PM

tell her to go back to school and leave you and your son alone

i correct my professors in college all the time and its a little ridiculous

Dannihilator 11-23-12 08:41 PM

Today I dirt jumped.

Day 23 of not riding a bike. I've been having dreams of it, though. 35 more days to go.

Santaria 11-23-12 08:55 PM

TW, you break something? I know the feeling of being bike-less for a period of time and how much it sucks to daydream about riding without being able to get out and just go spin up a few miles.

NateRod 11-23-12 09:44 PM

I'd dropped my phone a million times over the past two and a half years, with no damage.

Today I dropped it for the million and oneth time... SHATTERED.

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

solipsist716 11-23-12 10:02 PM

Today I went to the LBS, picked up some merino stuff, some medium-thickness full-length gloves and those planet bike full roadie fenders. Installing them tomorrow if I have any time in between hitting deadline for my article this week and preparing the venue for the show I have booked tomorrow night. Gon' be a busy day and stuff. I need a second me to go get groceries/beer at some point.

One of the bands vans just broke down. Aw man.

haha, no.. I'm out of the country. Philippines to be exact. I want to ride, but I only want to ride my bikes. Also, average people here don't really know anything about FG so I can't even drool at random bikes. There are mostly beat up MTBs and BMXs on the road.

Changed my own oil again for the first time in like 5 years. Feels good to have a garage again.

Leukybear 11-23-12 11:26 PM

Today I found out from a friend touring Germany that there exists these along frequented routes & urban areas:

So much WIN. :D

Unfortunately so many people have no idea at all what size they need.

Today I have Maillard bottle opener/spoke wrench/some spline interface tool. Helicomatic, I think.

I could use one of those. I have had to overhaul a couple Heliomatic hubs and my co-worker rides one.

solipsist716 11-23-12 11:48 PM

And my show fell apart in five minutes. Frack.

Life man, why?

off my lap onto carpeted floor: too much.

Leukybear 11-24-12 12:12 AM

As her last bike was stolen earlier this week, today my girlfriend and I took a drive and got her a Leader 722TS. Grabbed myself a Knog Nerd computer and her a pair of Knog Boomers while we were at the bike shop. Great day.

Sixty Fiver 11-24-12 12:47 AM

Total fail for "buy nothing day"... went in to get zerk fittings and came out with more tools.

On the bright side my wife says that these were all essentials for the shop so I should not feel bad.

It has been an expensive week... :)

Yep... great tool if you are a fan of those quirky French hubs.

Anywhere near Malabon? If I were anywhere in the Philippines, I'd try to make time to hook up with Mang, get Olan Valeriano to weld me up something super freaky. See if Mang/Sancycle can hook you up with some interesting Bridgestone--love the looks of those Transits he posted.

Heck, if I'm going to be anywhere a week or longer, first day would be finding some bike, any bike to ride for my stay. Twice, I've bought a bike on CL, picked it up at destination, sold it off CL at the end of a stay. Buy a decent bike, take a loss selling it at some screaming deal, suck up the difference as rental fee. Out in Oregon, it was a B'stone RB-2, bought for $200, rode for three weeks, sold for $125.

Yeaah, Malabon is quite a drive actually, and in Manila alone there are exactly two craigslist ads selling bikes - both MTB. I've pretty much just convinced myself to wait. The way people drive in my area is actually EXTREMELY dangerous; the only place I've seen more dangerous is India. I'm not gonna risk getting killed out here to ride a bike that is not nearly as good as the ones I got back home, haha. Thanks for the tips though!

Just rock a BMX.
