In that video Adrian posted. The guy was riding a single speed, with dual disc brakes nonetheless, and was hittin' sick whip skids.

It's not that hard to whip skid on a bike with disc brakes.
Today I got in a fun 42 miles.

Today was freezing. Left for work at 3 am, temps in the teens. Coldest I've ever been out on my bike. The ride home was a blast riding hills straight into a 16 mph wind. My legs hurt and I want the warms back.

Dannihilator 12-31-12 04:15 PM

A lot of climbing today, body feels like a wreck.

I have no idea, I feel it's cheating if there is a brake on the back, plus with tire prices it is just throwing money out of the window.

What is your weekly mileage like? Beast, no doubt.

.

I've finished the year a hair under 13,500.

Nagrom_ 12-31-12 06:55 PM

Today I finished up the year with a leisurely 25miler with the sqrl. She took her right of passage at a stoplight today.

Dannihilator 12-31-12 07:06 PM

Clipless induced crash?

Nagrom_ 12-31-12 07:10 PM

Yup. She took it like a champ.

Bartape got a little scuffed, and the brooks end plug broke, but meh.

Muffin Man 12-31-12 07:18 PM

Got in an easy 25ish miles to San Jose and back

Edit: New wheels are ****ing awesome. Such a big difference than the old boat anchors I were borrowing.

seau grateau 12-31-12 08:30 PM

I'll ride my bike next year.

alecjahn 12-31-12 08:50 PM

That's what I keep saying to myself.

FakeFuji 12-31-12 09:19 PM

I can't wait for spring right now, all you left coasters better not take your nice climate for granted, I'd give anything for a 45 degree night

Jared. 12-31-12 10:06 PM

I'd give anything for a 45 degree day.

We use centigrade here and believe me, you do not want a 45C day. :innocent:

Happy new years everyone.

johnnytheboy 01-01-13 11:26 AM

slept til 9am. woke up (surprisingly) not hungover. made a cup of coffee, 2 eggs over easy and a bagel w/ cream cheese.
put ingredients for chili in the crockpot...shall feast in 8 hours.
about halfway through the departed. will hop on the stumpy in a bit for 2013 inaugural ride.

i plan on commuting alot more this year. round trip, it's about 60mi to work. however, i live about 2mi from the train station, and they just finished the last stop on the line, which dumps out about 9mi from work. 22mi roundtrip > 60mi roundtrip.

SS_Giant 01-01-13 12:01 PM

happy/merry new years everyone, starting off the year right with a portlandia marathon on ifc. hope all have a blessed year
