i know that feel.

stay positive

Street rider 02-08-13 07:59 PM

Right in the feels man. I had to put one pet down, and then had another die right in front of me, within just a couple years of each other. Hope you're doing ok, dude.

Andy is 17 now and his health has taken a turn for the worse in the last few days and it doesn't look like he has the strength to recover. He's in a lot of pain so today we have to put him to sleep. I'm going to miss him so much :( There's never going to be another dog like you, Andy! :(

I'm sorry to hear.

I had it the other way. Both my dogs were about 11 or 12 years old, big dogs too, and one night I found the female had died while we were out of the house. Her health had been declining but it didn't seem like she was going to die so soon :( The male's health quickly deteriorated after that. He gained a lot of weight and developed a tumor by his jaw. I was more devastated by having to put him down than finding the other one dead. This was 7 years ago and I still think of them. I did grow up with them after all.

Sorry to hear it, Epic. You've been with that guy for a long time

Yea, I grew up with both. No fun at all. Had to put the dog, 10 yrs?, down when we moved to a non-dog friendly place. Cat died right in front of me, in her bed, after a very sudden health decline. As in three days. One of the saddest days of my life, burying her in the backyard.

europa 02-08-13 09:28 PM

I feel your loss Epic. It's never easy to lose a mate.

Nagrom_ 02-08-13 09:49 PM

I've had to put down 3 cats in my life. The first guy, Rocky, I had since I was born, and he was 17 when we put him down due to liver cancer. I held him when he was put down, couldn't ever do that again I don't think. The next one, Zeus, we had for about 4 years, we were fostering him because he was diabetic, which caused his death eventually. I stopped naming them after that. The next cat, Kitty, looked exactly like Zeus, was put down due to thyroid cancer after about 3 years.

My current cat, Kitty, also a clone of Zeus, is between 4 and 8 (shelter rescue, so we don't really know) and healthy so that's all cool.

Losing pets isn't fun.

On a positive note, I bought my first mountain bike tubes today.

Muffin Man 02-08-13 11:24 PM

Today I updated my craigslist ad for my KHS. I hope this thing sells.

LesterOfPuppets 02-08-13 11:31 PM

It's not the one that mentions a cupholder in the picture, yet the ad has no pic, is it?

Muffin Man 02-08-13 11:38 PM

Uh... I don't think so?

striknein 02-08-13 11:45 PM

That bike needs a cupholder.

LesterOfPuppets 02-08-13 11:46 PM

Totally.

Cupholders are hard to come by down there. Other dude is holding on to his:

Note: Does not come with cup holder in picture.

Muffin Man 02-08-13 11:48 PM

My cupholder got moved to the CAAD.
I NEED FULL CRABON CUPHOLDERS FOR WEIGHT SAVINGS

Thanks for all the support, guys. It's been a tough day but the good memories keep me positive. I'm always appreciative for bfssfg life counseling and venting time :) Gotta love this community

felt all warm and tingly inside when someone recognized my bike in my craigslist posting and said they couldn't believe it because how awesome it is.

but really maybe what i should do is put mavic ellipses on it and keep it....

epic! that's so heartwrenching. i hope you get through this and remember all the wonderful times you had.

eriklares 02-09-13 03:47 AM

I'll just pretend it's wednesday...

Today I had some plans with a friend fall out, and was at home extremely bored, so I decided to go on a ride that I haven't done in about 2 years. Next thing I knew, I had covered 46 miles in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Yesterday:

http://app.strava.com/activities/40228573

Not a long ride, but there's a pretty steep hill in there (well, steep for Louisiana). Tied for 2nd on the segment with a couple of road guys that race for a local team, so that feels good.

Also, found out I got the job I interviewed for, so I'm moving to Austin. Can't wait. But the hills there will definitely destroy my legs for a while until I get conditioned.

Also, no size mentioned in the ad. You've got the picture showing the medium sticker, but not all Md frames are alike.

Mumonkan 02-09-13 10:37 AM

today i shoveled and cleaned off my car, now i go to work for 4 hours where noone will be shopping

then presumably come home to someone parked in my clean spot

super excited about this day.

wish i was on the left coast riding bikes in the happy sunshine

Nagrom_ 02-09-13 10:44 AM

It's actually pretty damn chilly today, 39° and windy, and I don't own any cold weather gear, so I won't be riding.

I'll be getting Handsome Dick rolling instead.

bwilli88 02-09-13 10:46 AM

Today I rode 20 km around Angkor Wat with both road and trails, just a bit warmer today, around 34° C.

Adrian_ 02-09-13 11:12 AM

Today I bought the first pair of boots I've had since 2nd grade. Just in time to deal with all this snow on the east coast. I feel kinda bad ass, they make me an inch or two taller and I don't have to worry about coming home with numb soaking wet feet anymore(only other shoes I have are vans).

Congrats dude! The hills aren't that bad. I ran them with 46/16 when I was there last spring. My wife and I may be moving there later this year.
