fwiw i used to own a set of custom wheels w different kinlin rims (xr 270) and they rocked. kinlin always be high on my list when considering rims for custom road builds.

For that price I would get a modern complete bike.

Should I get m530 pedals and mtb shoes for the road bike when I commute or should I stick with my 105 PD-5700 SPD-SL and road shoes and just get used to clipping in and out at every stop light?

The 105 and road shoes are new but there's a pair of pedals and shoes in the road section for $100 that would work for me.

What do you mean? You're going to be clipping in and out regardless of mtb pedals or road pedals.

Yeah but I read life is easier with MTB pedals (can walk on them if needed), plus the pedals are double sided.

I should probably just suck it up and get used to the road pedals.

Oh, that's what you mean. Many people choose mtb pedals to commute. I say go for it, although I don't know about M530's. M520's would be a great choice, very economical.

Simply put, if I had to go clipless, I would choose mtb pedals if I were doing a lot of city riding/commuting with the occasional long ride on the weekends or something.

If my bike was set up to ride the distance on an at least semi-regular basis, then I would use road pedals.

Hmm, I might do it. $100 doesn't seem bad for the combo.

i commute sometimes with my look keo's you get use to it but having 2 sides to clip into is nice. especially when you have a whole lane of traffic behind you at a light. Im picking up m520's this weekend and saving my keo's for a future road bike build.

Don't do it! I'm waiting for it not to sell so the price might come down a bit

Not so wise to buy shoes online without knowing how they will fit. I'm guilty of it

I skipped buying the shoes/pedals as well.

Instead I bought a new saddle, miller high life jersey, and another set of bibs.

Bikes: BMX, fixed gear

I picked up a pump at Dicks Sporting goods a while back, a Nishiki with a built in gauge. It was only like $25, too. Hasn't let me down yet.

Was it really a Fuji pump with Nishiki stickers?

Any well-made floor pump should do the job just fine. Lezyne stuff looks cool though, so yeah get one.
