I see there are a few scale modelers. I used to be heavily into scale modeling, 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 armor. At one time I had over 400 kits.
But I've sold nearly all of them to buy bike stuff. Ive got maybe 40 kits left.

Kramers are an interesting breed. I started on German bow, then took lessons and played in orchestra on French, then my wrist started giving out (probably from skateboarding), so I switched back to German. Here's my axe: 70's or 80's Juzek. Sadly, she hasn't seen much action recently, but that will change in a couple of weeks!

I collect and restore vintage electronic calculators with LED or VFD displays. One of my favorites is the Hewlett-Packard HP-65, which has a miniature magnetic card reader to input and save programs and data. This calculator was carried along on the NASA Apollo moon missions to be used as a backup in case the onboard guidance computer malfunctioned. Those were the glory days when great technology was developed and built in the USA.
Now Hewlett-Packard sells cheap calculators made in China.

Few people actually know how much of the technology they take for granted was a direct offshoot of, or given impetus by, the NASA programs. I daresay only military developments have offered more advances in technology.
So today, we want to shut NASA down because our paid politicians have mismanaged our finances. What made us think a politician = an economist, anyway?
People can certainly get their priorities skewed.

Now there is a random hobby if ever I've heard of one! Very cool.

*edit: 1 month of the war budget > 1 year of nasa, and the war in total has been more than NASA in total. ~20bill for Air conditioning in Iraq and Afghanistan is more than nasa 19bill for example.

Uh, 2 jobs, 5 kids, 3 1/2 grandkids, house maintenance, looking for more jobs?
Tinkering with computers ... and Cooking! Food is good. Food from scratch is better, and now I'm practicing my gluten-free cooking for my celiac daughter.

I make plugs.
And as of today.. worms! I've been doing a lot of research and speaking with a friend at work who enjoys it and today I'm starting my compost/wormcasting setup. I've got european nightcrawlers and red wigglers. My plan is to eventually use the castings in the planter that surrounds my new backporch and grow some veggies and flowers like I did with my parents when I was younger.

When I first moved from California to Washington I used to hang around card shops and Games Workshop. Generally either the guys working there are DMs for shop circles or at least know where the groups are/how to get in touch with the DMs.
