I guess im not understanding the diff or downsides to either. You are saying that you would take the cro-mo frames I listed over the leader frames listed?

Between the Leader 725 and a bianchi Pista which would you chose?

I started reading up on the leader frames and I read a few places that they tend to flex a lot, so is that what you were saying by low grade aluminum frame?

Im looking for some form of benchmark, but im thinking there is none.

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 11:41 AM

You may need to do a little more research on your own. Google is your friend.

My Leader 725 didn't have any more noticeable "flex" than my Dodici - but the ride was a little more harsh.

Interesting, what is google?

I know saddles are very subjective, but what kind of saddle does your sqrl use?

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 01:25 PM

Dude, her bikes are on my PedalRoom.

I think the bead on my tires are coming off the rim at higher PSI levels, causing the tubes to blow. I can work the entire tire on the rim without levers, using my thumbs. Is there anything I can do to keep them on more securely, or should I just get different tires?

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 07:24 PM

You think the bead is coming off? Either it is or it isn't. Should be pretty easy to tell.

What tires are you using?

tomatsu 08-14-12 07:34 PM

Yes, the bead is coming off. I wasn't sure about the front tube blowout, but I'm sure about the rear blowout. I'm using Bontrager Sport 27 x 1.25 skinwalls. Thanks!

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 07:36 PM

'Bontrager' has to mean garbage in some other language. If you're using the correct size tube and the recommended psi, get new tires.

scrod: after you brought that SL novatec hub to my attention i want it.

do you know of any skewers with regular style 15mm nuts?
only ones i seem to be finding are ones with a slotted type end (like on the missus 721) or hex (like phil wood)

I asked before, he doesn't.

The only way to get one is to beat Jesus in a guacamole wrestling match. FWIW - he's been training like a mother****er.

i do love me some 'mole though...

Scrod, I have the chance to change my Leader 722TS for a Colossi Tig Welded Columbus Zona frameset for 100 bucks more, this is a new frame btw. Do you think it would be a good deal? The frame looks cool, has stainless steel dropouts and uses a upscale chromoly tubbing.

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 08:30 PM

Does it fit you?

Do you like it better than your 722TS?

Do you have $100?

If you answered yes to all three, you know what to do.

8bits 08-14-12 08:42 PM

It does fit me and I do have the $100, but the question that is puzzling me is, will I be changing from a 12 to a dozen? Is the higher grade tubbing much better?

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 09:14 PM

It honestly won't make a huge difference, other than the one in your head.

Sherblock 08-14-12 09:48 PM

Which will make you happier? 722 or Colossi?

Leukybear 08-14-12 10:57 PM

Dear scrod,

Would you happen to know why there's so many people out there swapping out the alpina forks on their kageros for leader forks such as the I-05? Aside from the brakehole factor.

Oh yeah, reply #5000.

Scrodzilla 08-15-12 06:23 AM

I have no idea, especially considering that most of the pics I see are from Japan - where the Kagero forks are required to come factory drilled. I think it looks like crap.

hamfoh 08-15-12 07:52 AM

scrod can you think of any alternatives I could use for my soma porteur rack for the top portion (that mounts onto the bolt on a brake caliper) besides actually adding a brake?

himespau 08-15-12 08:10 AM

Obviously not Scrod, but is your fork drilled for a brake? If so will a long bolt work? If not, would something like this work? Probably not strong enough (depending on the load), but maybe you could somehow wrap one of those around and use the bolt to that? Actually, that sounds like it'd be totally butt ugly and kludge-y, so I'm interested in seeing Scrod's solution that doesn't look like ass.

hamfoh 08-15-12 08:15 AM

my fork is drilled

Scrodzilla 08-15-12 08:29 AM

Dude, just use a long bolt.

hamfoh 08-15-12 09:59 AM

sell me one. it was my original idea but neither lbs i went to carried them

Scrodzilla 08-15-12 10:05 AM

You do have hardware stores in Texas, right?

hamfoh 08-15-12 10:15 AM

yes sir :(

/notscrod, but are you using old un-hooked steel rims?
