I haven't taken off my front wheel in a bit, but today when I decided to take everything off, clean and install, my front hub/axle threads were stuck to my carbon fork (Leader l806); I literally had to bang the tire off the fork. When I inspected the inside of the drop outs a found a chip and grooves from the axle threads in the drop outs. My question is, should I be worried about critical failure or just let it be with some clear nail polish? Few friends suggest to just leave it, because there are no visible threads coming off the chip or grooves. Just want another opinion, thanks.

If you're cool with spending the money to have it done and plan on keeping it a while, have it done.

isn't the only difference between them and R540s ($40) a couple of grams?

[h=2]im 5'10 - 5'11......would a 57cm be a better fit or 55cm?[/h]

I mainly went with the 105's instead of the R540's because because of the steel shoe plate, and never having to worry about it. It was worth the $20. and they're shiny.

good sir, whats the threshhold of "unsafe" for the ratio of steer tube:empty space in the stem? the 722 headtube is longer so my steerer might some up short by about 15mm from my previous setup and i was thinking of testing it out with my current fork, but if thats too much i wont bother taking it all apart
i had asked this already but i think it got lost a couple pages ago, pls dont beat me.

I typically cut the steerer to be level or slightly above the top of the stem stack and use a small spacer up top.
As Adrian said, 3-4mm is common. I would never want 15mm of empty space inside my stem clamp as that doesn't leave enough for the stem to grab on to.

Have you ever tried riding with a worn pair of V1 straps in flip flops? It feels very dangerous but amazingly comfy.
Also, have you ever just found a really good .gif and instantly searched SSFG because there is always bound to be a perfect place to use it?

No and yes. Sometimes I'll find a gif and leave it open in a tab for days just waiting for the right time to drop it.

Have person tagging along with me that is a motocross and wants to start doing road rides for endurance. Should I make him suffer on the first ride?
