Alright Scrod got a challenge.

New job at Jimmy Johns and requires a brake. My bars are Nitro RB 021 38cm and my ideal brake lever would be a cross lever. But the problem is the flats on the bars are so narrow and I would want the lever as close as possible to the stem. The center of the bars are 26.0. The problem is that when I use a normal salsa or tektro lever it leaves little space on the flats for me to ride. So I need a narrow clamp.

Suggestions?

Know of any compact drops with a shape like the Deda RHM 02's, but with a 26mm clamp?

Scrod, yesterday I fell of my bike pretty hard. I got up and noticed my stem moved slightly off center and now my BB is creaking. Is it possible my BB got messed up?

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

It's entirely possible that it isn't even the bottom bracket. Sounds are deceitful little buggers.

I flipped my bike to see where the noise was coming from and it was the crank/bottom bracket area. Made sure chain bolts were tight but yeah, im stumped

+1 on the Civia Emerson. Just got these, and like them. Basically a clone of some of the better known compact drops, but in silver instead of the usual black, and of course, in 26mm. Nice bends, very comfy. Not as nice looking as Nitto, but under bar wrap, so what.

BTW: I would not really recommend the Civia stem to go with it. Looks much nicer online than in person. For a simple silver stem in that price range, the Velo Orange is much nicer.

I'm willing to bet it's the saddle.

To single out the bottom bracket, get the bike on it's wheels, have the drive-side crank at the 6 o'clock position and put pressure on the pedals, repeat the same with non-drive side. If you get a creak, it's the bottom bracket.

FWIW, the Civia bars come in silver and black and the stem is exactly the same as a Dimension.

Scrod,

What's the word on the EighthInch 144bcd cranksets from RG? The website says to use a 68x107mm bb but I've seen people recommend 68x103mm bb's. I'd like to run the chainring on the outside of the spider.

Yeah, forgot about the black since I was trying to find silver.

Guess I won't be getting a Dimension stem either if I didn't like the Civia. I had mildly high hopes for it, but it just looked sort of cheap in person. The VO -which I got instead - just looks much better finished, for only 5 bucks more. But maybe I'm just being too fussy...

With the ring on the outside where it belongs you need a 107mm, as stated on the box they come in:

By the way, there's a thread for that.

Scrod, So I'm gonna tighten these cranks https://www.vueltausa.com/components/...et-silver.html with out a torque wrench they didn't have torque specs on them. once i tighten the bolt to were some real torque is needed. Then say i have my crank arm at 6 o'clock what time do i put the ratchet then meet in the middle? Does that make sense to you or am I nuts lol?

In all honesty, you'll be able to sense when you should stop tightening your crank bolts. Be sure to check them periodically to make sure they're staying tight. If they have a nasty habit of loosening up, clean all the grease from them and use a drop of blue Loctite.

Scrod, I have a EAI BK frame with two cracks in it. There's one on the seattube and and one on the on the left chainstay, they're both relatively small. Is there any reason I couldn't weld them up, grind down the weld and paint the frame?
