The only difference between an ENO freewheel and a standard freewheel is that White Industries uses sealed cartridge bearings. They both install the same way.

Because you're using an eccentric BB (your bike has vertical dropouts BTW), getting the right chain tension will be no different running fixed or SS.

You don't get mad enough about threads with "thread" in the title. The real carleton wouldn't be able to contain himself long enough to log off as Scrod and log back in to his account to rant about it. Nope.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Scrod started a thread (now deleted) that was called something like "the thread with the word thread in the title" and it was an angry, sarcastic thing about that very topic.

Short seat rails + zero setback = improper saddle position in relation to the crank on the correct size frame.

Scrod, I have a moto track and I am going to upgrade my cranks for christmas and I need your advice. I commute and ride often so I need something beefy and reliable. I also need something affordable. I have been looking at IRD, All-City, Miche and Omniums. I am stuck on whether I need anything more than the all-city 612 cranks but I have a great deal on the Miche and the Omniums are the hands down favorite.

The All-city 612 is just a rebranded Andel crank. You may be able to pick up the unbranded Andel version cheaper at Ben's.

Omniums are a really nice crankset but in my experience, the stock BB is garbage. As far as Miche goes - again, the cranks themselves are really nice but I wouldn't use one of their BBs if it was free.

Will the 49t miche workon the moto without hitting the frame? I have read that it hits the frame on a couple of bikes because I am going to buy the miche and get a shimano BB.

Miche cranks use ISO taper BB's. Have you found a Shimano BB with an appropriate spindle?

I haven't looked yet, but are Miche cranks as durable as omniums ?

Scrod if I got the Omniums what bb would you recommend with it instead of the GXP?

I've bought the Chris King GXP for a friend of mine who the Omnium BB failed on him. He's amazed and I would very much recomend it, BUT, is a nonsense to spend 60% of the price of the crank on another BB. For that price you enter the realm of Sugino75's,Campagnolo Pista, Shimano DuraAce.

sorry forgot /notscrod

Is there even anything available between the GXP Team BB (which is evidently what comes on the Omniums and S300s) and the Red BB?

edit: Does this option make any sense:https://www.enduroforkseals.com/id192.html?

when I was researching GXP bb's for my friend I found these guys, they are legit and people around do say nice things about them but you have to send it to them for servicing and I don't know...70 bucks for refitting a used BB is not ideal.

i've seen that guys here comment unfavorably on the brooks/thomson combo a lot, especially when it recently erupted in the post your bike pics thread, & i always thought it was some kind of hipster/tarkster group ethos thing

since i don't care much for brooks (even my own) i never paid it much mind, but if that is the reason, it can not apply to all their models

a swallow that i "inherited" has rails that seem about a mile long - it has a ton of fore & aft adjustment

Scrod,

What's the status on solbros? And what is "footnoted and fully cited paper he has to write for earlier readmission on Gibbon's treatise?"

Also, Merry Christmas.

I think that's Tom's idea of a joke.
