Scrod,

Do you know of anywhere that sells an individual lever(not a set) similar to the Tektro RL720 with a 31.8mm clamp?

The stock BB that comes with Omniums are a crap shoot - some of them seem fine and others total junk.

There really isn't any trick to installing them, you just tighten the bolt and go. If the frame has a BB shell that's a true 68mm, the crank arm will bottom out on the spindle before the bolt becomes overtightened.

Scrod,

Do you have any experience with Primato hubs? I am looking to get a wheelset with double-sided fixed hubs. 16T cog on one side and either 17/18T on the other. (paired with a 48T crank of some sort -- prob the SRAM S300).

The Wabi's look pretty good for the price but their pre-built wheels only come in flip/flop as far as I can tell.

Gracias.

Thinking about grabbing a Kagero, but I'm unsure about the sizing. I ride a 53cm 725 mid, and feel just a lil' bit stretched out when in the track drops. My question is if I should grab a large or medium?

Medium. My large rides like a 58.

Would you happen to know the stand over measurements?

Dear Scrod,

How do you know when a headset is too tight? I know a sign of a headset being too loose is feeling play when you hold the front brake and rock the handlebars back and forth...but how do you tell if it's too tight?

Thanks!

Dear Scrod,

Should I build my front H+Son SL42's with a 20 hole spoke count or should I stick with 32's? I ride my bike on and off the track so I'm not so sure if I should ride with a 20 in the front when I'm on the street.

Scrod,
I'm looking to build up a nice rear wheel and I was debating between a PW or DA hub. What are your opinions on them, and which would you suggest? It's pretty much just city riding in Seattle, not track. I just want something that will be strong and ride really well

Unless you weigh 300 lbs, I'm sure a 20h SL42 will hold up just fine.

I don't even know what it is on my own bike because it doesn't really matter. Go by top tube length.

That would be a decent wheelset but Open Pros are a little overrated IMO. Why not Aeroheads to Primato?

I had a Phil rear hub and thought it was stupid. They're heavy and mine kept slipping forward despite how hard I cranked down the bolts. DA hubs are nice but I wouldn't want to mess with servicing the bearings. I'd probably go with the low-flange DA 7710 hubs, which have sealed bearings.

Yeah, I agree that the Phil design is stupid. Unless you're a 95 pound weakling or use tug nuts, they're gonna slip. Speaking of hubs, what's your opinion on these ?
