Have you ever tried to carry a pizza in one? It makes a mess! Using them to carry wheels makes much more sense.

I do not. They look pretty cool, though.

I've seen them live countless times and hung out with Joey and CJ on a few occasions. They've always been a great live band and seemed like down to earth dudes. That being said, I'd never even want to be in the same room as Johnny Rotten.

Regarding the SRAM Torpedo, I think it's a cool idea but the technology and mechanics of it aren't quite where they should be just yet.
Rad. Thanks.

The Ramones took corny 50's-style lyrics and punked them up. I never considered them to be a punk band, though, more of a classic garage band. They did make the ripped-out knees jeans look immortal and for that reason alone will be far more relevant than the Sex Pistols.

The Sex Pistols were more about raging against societal norms with a lot of noise and cursing. Also quite blatant about their commercialism. I have both on my iPod but also lots of Billy Childish. And the Mummies(another band whose label released far more albums after they broke up than before).

"Rock-n-Roll Highschool" wasn't half bad for its genre. I never got to see "The Great Rock-n-Roll Swindle" but I have the double album and it's a good listen. The band was broken up by the time the movie came out.

Hey Scrod - What do you think of The Replacements ? About the same time period as the Ramones. I've got several of their albums on my mpeg player for riding.

Any reason? They seem a tad pricey for what they are, but I was wondering if there was any other reason why.

Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of either but I've always felt that of the two of them, The Ramones were the more influential. I'd prefer to listen to The Queers or T.S.O.L. or Descendants, but that's me.

My Dad never graduated from High School, either.

But then he went and got a PhD from McGill...

What are the pros and cons of a wide rim vs a standard width? ex: tb-14 or a23

I "retired" as a high school sophomore.

They're kinda heavy and feel cheap to me, especially the hubs. Also, I hate really wide bladed spokes.

I dig the Replacements now but didn't really appreciate them at the time.

Descendents, Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Cirle Jerks, Sex Pistols

Dead milkmen have a soft place in my heart.

The Ramones are awful.

What is a "tubular-like ride"? How does a tubular feel compared to a regular tire? and does the wider/consistent profile take any grip away during turns?

It feels like riding on a solid tire as opposed to a hollow one. Like how high thread count sheets feel better than cheap low thread count sheets.

Dave, I'm placing my order soon but I want to buy the Rivoli chain tool you recommend. Does it work on all 1/8" and 3/32" chains or just oddly shaped ones like the KMC one?

Thanks carleton.

Just the opposite, actually. Because the wider rim spreads the tire beads apart and creates a more consistent tire profile - instead of the sidewalls bulging out and giving your tire the shape of a light bulb - it results in less sidewall flex and better traction while turning, even at high speeds.
