Yeah, I don't mean to come off as saying that my parents are ********. We were just poor as ****. I'm used to hard work, and I have a 10 year jump start on most people my age. Maybe that explains why most of my friends are older than I am, and most people think I'm older at first.

I'm pretty similar; I pay for everything but the bare essentials. By the time I make it through college and get a job I'll be all set to live on my own. My parents aren't going to pay my bills and buy food for me when I'm 30.

my grandparents were going to pay for my college (raised by just my school teacher mom) but I screwed up my first semester (had just turned 18, was an idiot) and I got cut off. had to move back home and was kindly told to get out (literally, it was done nicely, but still done)

There's also a kid who's father (a doctor) owns almost a dozen sport cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.)

He bough an entire house for them and converted it into a garage.

****, when I turned 18, our "birthday present" was the prompt removal of the house keys, and a simple explanation that "this stuff is ours" and the only thing I needed to worry about was where I was going to put my clothing. Cars, dressers, beds - that stuff wasn't ours. Fortunately, I was leaving for boot camp that week, so I shacked up at a girl I was involved with for 4 days. Good times. From 15-18 if you wanted to get to work, school or anywhere else, that was your problem - not theirs. I spent a lot of time riding, walking or bumming rides from friends all over SoCal.

I'm against blatantly wasting money (throwing phones), but if you have the money, spend it. If you get 2 million + a year and want a ferrari, buy one, or 3, for all I care. At least he's spending it, ya know?

I see what you're saying. I don't mind kids who have iPhones and actually use them and are thankful for them; unfortunately, I seldom see that.

On the topic of hubs. My next purchase are the BLB King hubs, do you have any experience with these low flange hubs Scrod?

We could do with a thread called irrelevant ****. Kinda like one of pcad's threads. Foo but for the members of this forum.

to relate it to this topic -

Scrod, is this possible? Or is "Today I..." good enough?

I was thinking of something similar as well, like a sub forum for all those off topic threads

scrod, what's the lowest spoke count you would feel comfortable with for street riding (front and rear)? assuming you had a relatively strong rim. Also do you ever mix match rims? if i remember your builds correct you seem to always use the same one in front and back. does it matter that much?

Spokes are for noobs. These are the best for street riding.

and also, would you ever ride a carbon clincher? I'm kinda turning the Mash into my 'distance' machine now that I've got the 722s for my pothole riding. I was seriously considering something like a front mavic ellipse for the front, since they're sold seperately, and then something with more strength in the rear, since im 6'1/210. the sram wheels don't recommend anyone over 200lbs.

Scrod, why do people put wheels in bags? the bags often are just flimsy layer of plastic~ they dont look like they're for physical protection. i confusezd.

The bags are mainly to protect fragile tubular racing tires, expecially track tires that lack any sidewall protection. My wheel bags are heavily padded and reinforced at the axles. Also, they protect lightweight cf wheels with low spoke counts. Usually, the bags are used when travelling and transporting a bike to races.

Solve a debate for me. Who was more relevant, The Ramones or The Sex Pistols?

Also, SRAM Torpedo hub. Your opinion?

The Ramones. Sex Pistols only released one actual album and self destructed quickly.

In all honesty, I've always found both bands to be really corny, even when I was an 11 year old kid first getting into punk. To agree with omgzilla - who rudely answered before me - I would have to say the Ramones are a much more relevant band in the grand scheme of things. I've seen them live countless times and hung out with Joey and CJ on a few occasions. They've always been a great live band and seemed like down to earth dudes. That being said, I'd never even want to be in the same room as Johnny Rotten.

Regarding the SRAM Torpedo, I think it's a cool idea but the technology and mechanics of it aren't quite where they should be just yet.

I could have built any wheels I wanted for both my bikes and went with 32h on both. I would never feel a need to go lower than 28h.

I've never mixed two different rims but wouldn't have a problem if they were the right combo. Angie has a Deep V rear/Aerohead front on her 721 that is totally badass.

Personally, I wouldn't use carbon rims. Also, I hate Ellipses so I may be the wrong guy for these questions.
