Crap, thanks. I had a hell of a time getting my ****ty chaoyang tires on these rims. I might actually need a pit crew if the gator hard shells are any more difficult.

They're extremely difficult. Pick up a Kool Stop Bead Jack. You'll thank me.

If I'm using a shim to go up to a 1 1/8" stem from a 1", do I need to get a 1 1/8" top cap as well?

Yeah. Otherwise the top cap will be too small for the 1 1/8" hole in the top of the stem.

Scrod,

Is it possible to install a omnium without a torque wrench? I mean, of course it is, but can I get in trouble of overtightening or not tight enough?

You'll be fine. Omniums are easy because when they're not torqued enough, there will be play in the BB.

That frame was posted in the triple triangle thread already where it belongs.

Stop posting it everywhere.

Hey Dave,

I had my Brooks at a slight upward angle and it felt perfect until I got in the drops, then it felt like all kinds of wrong.. I tilted it down just a bit and it feels better (but still a bit uncomfortable) and now I slide forward a little in the saddle..

What do I do?!?!?! btw bike looks just about the same on my pedal room.

edit: It was so bad, I got a rash on my scrotum lol

If you have a B17, you may be up the creek. That saddle really wasn't designed for riding with a lot of saddle to bar drop. Try sliding it forward just a touch and finding a happy medium.

Hmmm I wish I knew that I would have ended up loving the Noodles before I got the Brooks a long time ago. Ah well.

You should be able to make it work. When I had a B17, I messed around with the angle and fore/aft for months before I got it right. Then I sold it.

Are you still planning on building a Leader? I've got an I806TR fork hidden away for you.

Dear Scrod,

How do you like riding with compact drops and no hoods?

And do I ask too many questions?

same. ended up selling my b17 to some member here because it just doesn't feel right with drops/bullhorns.

I like it a lot. Because of occasional back troubles, too much reach ends up being bothersome. I've found the bends at the top of compact drops to put me out just forward enough to be very effective and comfortable and still have plenty of room for my gorilla hands. Adding hoods would put me in a position which I wouldn't be able to ride in for very long, so I'm good with my current setup.

You don't ask too many questions.

Team Pro FTW. It's a little wider in the rear but not as wedge-shaped.

Hells yeah. Even though I don't have the money right now, I'm holding off on almost anything else until I get enough money to at least buy that fork from you. Feel kind of bad for making you hold it for too long. I'm secretly stressing over which size to get everyday. The 51 has about the same TT length as a 53cm Kilo TT (I ride a 50cm, most likely too small for me) but I kind of don't like the sloped TT on them. haha I'm such a ****** when it comes to these little things.

Well, in my defense, I used that competitivecyclist fit caluculator a long time ago, and have a fair idea what top tube length I need, it just depends if I want to get a normal sized stem with an ugly (imo) sloping top tube or a shorter stem with a straight top tube.
