Why would they? They're clearly participating in a race.

Scrod, I would like to drop below 70 gi.
Right now I'm at 48/17, new cog for 48/19 or new ring for 44 or 43/17?
Price difference between ring and cog isn't too much of an issue.

Bigger gears result in less wear on your chain and a smoother drivetrain in general. 48/19 FTW.

I suspected the wear thing, so yeah, should be cheaper too. Hope my shop of choice has one in stock, I hate waiting.

+1 on the 'brakeless doesn't mean you skid'. I really only skid if I'm effing around with my friends. I never do it while commuting, and I mean never. I just keep an eye out on the lights and the intersections and control my speed based on what's in front of me. If you're riding a ratio you're comfortable with then it won't take much time at all to get used to what the dos and dont's are, homebrewk.
Scrod,
I was looking at Faz's Kagero and saw he's 53/15. Am I just a bitter @ss or does a ratio like that, for someone who doesn't get on the track, scream "trying too hard"? or is it just me?

A perfectly reasonable drivetrain:

Running a gear ratio like that posted above does have its benefits because (as I just posted right her eon this very page) bigger gears cause less wear on your chain and result in a smoother drivetrain. I think that dude just did it for looks though. There's also NO WAY he ever puts his hands out on the horns with that setup.
Regarding Faz's Kagero: 53/15 brakeless on the street is just stupid.

Scrod, remember this pic from the Foer rims? I think it was a friend of yours? Anyway - can you ask him where he got such a little bird sticker or do you know? The large one on my soma is the smallest I've found and it's too big as is.

I'm fairly certain Alex can make just about anything, not just text.

Not trying to steal business here or anything, but I can cut vinyl decals at a very reasonable price too, if Alex is busy or something.

Hey Scrod, you have any experience with pulling trailers? I don't have a car and I'm sick of getting cabs or recruiting friends to help me with my drumset on public transit. If I pack it tightly, I can probably get it in a 5x4 area if it's tied down. I've been looking at the two Surly rigs. Any advice?

I've never pulled a trailer and have no idea. My advice is to ask here:

Note he's brakeless too.
Also, might as well ask a question while I'm in here.
When you put a rear wheel on (fg of course) what do you do to get the chain tension right?
