scrod my BK is marked "56" on the bottom bracket but measures 58 c-c. Do I call this a 58 or a 56? the guy before me called it a 58
|
I have no idea. The 56cm BKs I currently have at the shop all measure 56cm center to center.
If your top tube is 57.5cm, you've got yourself a 58. |
58 it is. thanks

looking for opinions, don't want to clutter with new thread:
kinlin with machined sidewall to silver hub: lace with silver spokes or black? nipple will be same color as spokes. |
It really depends on how the rest of the bike will be built up but I'm leaning toward silver spokes.
|
Which is the more fun ride - the 722TS or the Gara? Which sees more of your time?
And how big of a difference is there with the mass-produced Gara vs the custom? |

Hey scrod
which would you choose? mavic cxp 22 vs h+son tb14 vs alex at4000/novatecs (found on your site). First 2 would be laced to formula hubs. I want something lighter then my eighth inch julians but dont have the funds to buy a custom built wheel set right now due to me moving out of state in a couple of weeks. buddy offered me almost what I paid for my julians so I was gonna take that cash and buy a wheel set with it. |
They're all decent wheelsets. I've been nothing but happy with my TB14s (and H+Son rims in general).
The lightest of the three are the Alex/Novatecs. |
Scrod, et al.:
A while back someone posted an image and a link to a blog with a story of a rider who came in complaining of his bars becoming flexier as time went on. The image was of the bars once the tape had been removed showing nearly half of the bar had been eroded away from the rider's sweat on the trainer at home. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Got a link? Thanks, -Dan. |
Scrod -
Do you ever ride geared bikes? |

Holy ****.
|
And that is why I hate indoor exercising. Too much sweat dripping everywhere without evaporating.

I remember reading something about that somewhere. Quick search turns up this:

Can you recommend a good 68x110 Bottom Bracket? (IRD Defiant crank going on a Cinelli Gazzetta)

A Shimano UN55 or UN54 in said spec will set you up nicely with a reliable cartridge bottom bracket that won't break the bank. Above is a UN55, take a few dollars if you rather have a plastic NDS cup instead of a more durable metal one (as found on the UN55) if you decide to get a UN54. Can't go wrong with either. /not scrod |
Either the UN55 or Andel BB will be fine.
|
ok cool, thanks guys.

Scrod,
Every had any luck saving/reusing Lizardskins tape? I'm about to part out my Tarmac and I just put the tape on it so if the bars sell separate from the group, I'll have to untape it and wouldn't mind saving the tape if you think it will rewrap okay. |
I've seen people say it's reusable but have never tried it. If you stretched it a lot when you wrapped your bars, you most likely won't be able to use it again.
