Get a vice grip and just go at it.

ben4345 05-06-12 12:55 PM

scrod, how many more miles will I ride until the zombie apocalypse?

striknein 05-06-12 01:17 PM

Remove tire, tube, and rim tape. Unscrew nipple with appropriately sized flathead screwdriver.

This has me thinking. A solid CX bike would be great for a zombie apocalypse. Keep a pair of folding slicks for the road.

I must prepare!

This can be done if there isn't enough tension on the spoke, otherwise you will strip the slot on the nipple.

Muffin Man 05-06-12 02:32 PM

ok thanx. I'll work on that after ap tests :(

Hey Scrod,

This might be borderline RG thread so if I should ask in RG let me know.

I'm curious about the Cane Creek 110 headset. That 110 year NQA warranty is appealing to me. Is the performance/durability worth the cost? I don't mind shelling out now if I'll have to replace an FSA Orbit or Technoglide 5-10 years down the road. How long does a headset like the Orbit X typically last with moderate use?

Thanks.

Scrodzilla 05-06-12 09:35 PM

I've never had any trouble with the Orbit-X and think it's an amazing headset for the money. I've only had my Cane Creek 110 headset for about a week on my BK so I can't really comment on how it's going to hold up but it's design seems to be pretty damn good and you can't beat that warranty.

Ride four miles. You won't survive the zombie apocalypse on that conversion.

Proper size screwdriver should be no problem unless spoke is kinda seized. Spokes take a kinda fatty screwdriver.

Problems may arise if spokes are a little long, ie poking up a bit into slot.

Noted. :)

I always have to deal with the wheels that come through the donation box and a lot of them have stubborn spokes that stick out.

Wait until you go to college, then don't tell them how much you spend on bikes.

markaitch 05-07-12 06:20 AM

what size are the tires you got on your bareknuckle?

Scrodzilla 05-07-12 06:32 AM

23

Adrian_ 05-07-12 10:47 AM

How does the ride feel with 23c's? I wanna try out the 23 rim 23 tire thing but I feel like the ride would be too harsh. Right now I'm on 25's.
