Scrod,

Can you pm me info on the bell you have? How to mount/what bell/etc I think I want a bell on my Kilott for the lulz. Probably will wire it to my dummy lever.

Scrodzilla 02-19-13 09:24 AM

Which bell? The one on my BK? That's a Velo Orange bell that hasn't been in production for a few years now.

We sell similar Crane bells on the site, though.

I'm looking for lighter. More around under 250g. I'm willing to put up around $100-150

Scrodzilla 02-19-13 10:01 AM

I wish you the best of luck on your quest.

FixedDriveJess 02-19-13 10:18 AM

Do you think it's gonna be a tough find?

Nagrom_ 02-19-13 10:35 AM

I don't think you actually have an understanding of weight. You just see numbers. Light products are catered towards weight weenie roadies, none of which want a silver finish.

Also, light or stiff, pick one or get your check book out and get ready to go carbon.

Some chains are just noisy, especially if they are too tight. If your Omniums are new, that could also be contributing to how loud your drivetrain is.

I don't care about what it looks like. It can be pink for all I care. I just want something very light, and stiffer than steel.

Steel is stiff and heavy. Aluminum is flexy and light.

No aluminum bars are going to be stiffer than its steel counterpart, and no steel bars are going to be lighter than its aluminum counterpart.

Scrodzilla 02-19-13 11:51 AM

Dude's got an Aerospoke/B43 combo and he's concerned about how light his bars are. :/

Nagrom_ 02-19-13 11:51 AM

Also, you realize you're trying to weight weenie a 3kg frameset?

Honestly, if you want a lighter bike, spending 300 dollars, saving 100g on bars is not the way to do it. Get a new frame, and cut 3 pounds.

He's said he's switched to stans 340's, but still, he's riding a low end steel frame, and worrying about weight.

Scrodzilla 02-19-13 11:53 AM

Oh yeah, that's right. So he instantly went from having an Aerospoke/B43 combo to being a full-on weight weenie.

Dude, I feel like I've told a million people about this. Should I just make a thread with photos of my bike? Sheesh. I'm running dual ZTR 340s now. Check my pedal room. Still need to upload photos on there.

@Nagrom, Are you sure my frameset is 3kg? When I first bought it, it felt stupid light. I never did weigh it though. I'm buying light parts for now until I save up for a new frame. Which one would you recommend? I was looking at the Heritage 722 Lo on RG

How about you read the post directly above yours?

BTW - the pics on your PedalRoom still show boat anchors.

Muffin Man 02-19-13 12:01 PM

you should probably update the pics. and a pista isn't light.

You really think your low end steel frame is "stupid light"?

I would not recommend replacing your low end steel frame with another low end steel frame, (with wider tubes in fact! would probably be heavier.)

Muffin Man 02-19-13 12:06 PM

722 is a boat anchor.

That was posted while I was writing my response. And Now I get to tease you about not reading the post directly above yours.

I'm just trying to save you time and money, If I need to be an ass to get the point across it seems fit to me.

son.

Well, if you're trying to help, thank you.

I'm more interested in a light frameset than a heavy one, in conflict with popular belief. What frame might you recommend if my budget is sub $400, and I don't want aluminum?

Muffin Man 02-19-13 12:13 PM

Why no Alu?

I recommend you keep your current bars and spokes, take the 325 dollars saved, and add that to your 400 dollar budget, and then get a decent frame.

Steel is not light.
