Chances are, it's not your BB or crank at all (this is a common misconception when "slipping" occurs). It's much more likely that your cog is loose and slipping on the hub.

Is it as simple as it looks? I'm building a townie for my wife with honey brown saddle and faux-leather tape and I thought finishing it with twine and then shellacking the twine dark would give it a cool look (same for old wine corks instead of end plugs).

Scrod, have you ever finished a bar wrap like this (about 2:30-2:45 in):

Seriously!
|
Now that I have finally found a tire that works for me, should I stick to that tire or continue with my habit of trying different tires?
|
If it were me, I would stick with it.

Dear Scrod,
Today I was removing a bolt from a bottle boss and the head of the bolt broke off leaving the body of the bolt still in the hole -_____- What do you recommend that I do to get that out of there? |

+1
and don't use alloy bolts. |
would it be a waste of time to install my crappy eighthinch headset on an 805 fork and 722 frame and take it off when i can afford a new orbit x, or should i just wait?
|
Will you be doing it yourself or paying a shop to do it?
|
myself, id have to borrow a friends crown race puller though since i dont have that on hand
|
If you're going to use the headset for a while and can install it yourself, go ahead and do it. If you'll be getting a new headset is two weeks, don't bother.
|
it would probably be on there for a month or so
my next check is gonna suck so im gonna have some spare money this week and then not again for a while i just dont want my new frame to torture me by hanging on the wall for that long, its so purdy lol (bi-weekly pay periods suck) |

I'm trying to decide wich one to go with my next wheelset. Not sure what the actual quality difference is, if any. |

I've had gator hardshells last a month, look at michelin or hutchinson tires and they fail.
|
Gator Hardshells have crappy sidewalls, IMO.
Not sure if you recall what happened when I tried Michelin Pro4s when they first came out but I literally had one blow right off my front rim while I was cornering at a pretty high speed and I still don't really understand how I pulled off not eating ****. The roadies can keep 'em. |
