Is it as simple as it looks? I'm building a townie for my wife with honey brown saddle and faux-leather tape and I thought finishing it with twine and then shellacking the twine dark would give it a cool look (same for old wine corks instead of end plugs).

It took me a couple tries the first time, but it's really not too bad. It's worth a try.

Guy sucks at doing bar tape. Can be done with just notching the cloth/cork where the friction shifter housing protrudes from instead of cutting it off and restarting.

would it be a waste of time to install my crappy eighthinch headset on an 805 fork and 722 frame and take it off when i can afford a new orbit x, or should i just wait?

Will you be doing it yourself or paying a shop to do it?

If you're going to use the headset for a while and can install it yourself, go ahead and do it. If you'll be getting a new headset is two weeks, don't bother.

Lasers are 2.0/1.5/2.0 and DT Swiss Comps are 1.8/1.5/1.8.

It's hard to believe that a tire is working for you but the Seca RS is a decent tire.

I've had gator hardshells last a month, look at michelin or hutchinson tires and they fail.

Gator Hardshells have crappy sidewalls, IMO.

Not sure if you recall what happened when I tried Michelin Pro4s when they first came out but I literally had one blow right off my front rim while I was cornering at a pretty high speed and I still don't really understand how I pulled off not eating ****. The roadies can keep 'em.
