Seriously?
Depends on the seatpost really. Measuring from bottom of seatpost to the max hight mark, that should give you a pretty good indication. Be aware that some seatposts has a greater base density, in which case cutting your seatpost may drastically reduce it's strength, hence such modifications are not allowed within UCI regulations, and your bike would technically not be race ready. In any event make sure to allow for future changes, as changing your setup (saddle, pedals, crank arms, and so on, or even your shoes or bibs, let alone losing or gaining some weight yourself) may require some minor adjustments either way.
Moreover, I'll bet you $1 that cutting the seatpost won't mean jack in terms of performance or riding experience. Fine tune and if necessary trim some weight off the engine, then cut the seatpost if you still need an edge on those "Hors Catégorie" climbs. Don't get me wrong. While not exactly a weight weenie myself, I still aim at not exceeding the 6.8kg UCI weight restrictions on any of my builds, but in my case I simply can't justify molesting a $200 seatpost for a 18g weight loss when I could easily lose twice that going for a shave and haircut.

Thanks for the reply, dawg. Unfortunately it didnt quite answer my question.
There is very little weight to be lost in the engine. I weigh 135 with very little body fat.

How about you stop answering questins that are addressed to me? There's an entire forum here for you to "chime in" on.
As long as the bottom of your seatpost is about 1 1/2" below the tubing cluster, you should be okay. But seriously...stop obsessing over weight. You're making an ass of yourself.

If you do cut it, can you do me a favour and weigh the trimmed piece? I am curious how much this actually saves you.

An unanswerable question in this thread.

Breaking forum rules, don't know which ones. I'm going to guess for being offensive to members because he's scrod.

When you get infractions, you get points. When you accumulate enough points, you get banned.
Points expire eventually, although I don't know how long it takes. Can someone fill me in on that?
Also, how many points gets you banned?

It takes 3 points for a 1-week ban. 5 points for permanent ban. Points and warnings do expire depending on the offense anyhow (3 - 4 months) and we give an awful lot of chances here.

Click on the "Infractions" tab. There you'll find your total number of current unexpired points and your entire disciplinary history with date of receipt and expiration date (if still valid).

Just click on your name right there or up top/ view profile to get to your profile page. Once there, Look at the top and the tabs there, you should see "Visitor Messages", "About me", "Friends", and finally, "Infractions".

First, thanks for the easy to understand answer.
Second, I'm not going to cut my post. It's a question I didn't know the answer to. I thought it would be a good thing to know for the future. Just because I ask how tall the empire state building is, doesn't mean I'm going to jump.
